It blows me away how no one in this thread sees how damaging this is.  Your attention is much more valuable than a penny, guys. Nothing comes for free. You don't win in this scenario, the advertisers and the app developers are.  They're making you less than human, you guys should be angry about this.

It's just a way of getting people to spread the word by offering a reward.

Clearly there's more potential in referrals, as I stated earlier. Why turn down EASY MONEY? If someone is smart with it, like me, you can make a quick 1000. I don't care if i was a billionaire, I'd take an extra 1000.

My boy brought up a good point, hopefully this doesn't progress on the manner of youtube... Meaning, what began as little inconspicuous ads gradually advanced to actual commercials. Some of the ads on youtube force you to watch them. No way I'm watching a 30 second trailer in order to check a text. I'm thinking they may offer more incentive for a feature line that in the future. Maybe a quarter for a minute long ad or something.
