A healthy discussion about Pornography and Masculinity. vol. "GUYLAND" by M. Kimmel

Right, the greatest insult one man can hurl at another is to question his masculinity, i.e "you have a sack too," and covertly calling me homosexual...

...honestly, can't say I didn't see it coming as this. Prime example of the whole "with us all the way, or against us all the way" dynamic.

I'm more than secure in who I am, that's why I can entertain these ideas and present my opinions to other men in an environment that is wholly heterosexual and predictably homophobic.

Dudes wanna clown and question my intellect because I've chosen to engage myself in a sphere that challenges the patriarchal status quo? Pshhh...go right ahead.

The only thing I will concede is that I am not nearly eloquent and/or verbose enough to do justice to this topic. There are innumerable papers both within the realm of academia that supports much of what I am saying in relation to how porn naturalizes violence against women. I can only say that I am honestly privileged to have some of this information at hand, something that would likely not have been the case had I not been curious about this "Variable Topic" course that is outside of my normal school of thought.

And she does that. But the thing is, IT IS NOT ABOUT HER and NEVER WAS ABOUT HER. It was all bout you ad a man and the catering to your masculinity. In this sense, the sexual act is deviod of feminine presence. As I am sure you've heard before, porn objectifies women, she is not there as a person. It's strictly You living vicariously through that male performer. That's where the homosexual element comes in. The sexual arousal is partly due to seeing a man "give that ___ what's coming to her". It's about watching a man, YOU, live up to masculinity of GUYLAND.

That's what I said, when I clarified my initial thought. How you interpret that into some idea of gay porn is purely on you.

I respect your thoughts on the topic and bringing forward new ideas.... but I still can't rock with you for two reasons.
The reason I don't respect most arguments against porn not because its a successful business or that there are a lot of people in it...but rather the motivation to do it remains the same. People like sex and some of those people don't mind being paid to do it. If we talk about sexual abuse and all those other things, thats a different story. That simple. We can go into the range of the topics and what not about dynamics but the thing is, you're talking about a specific type of porn, a point you haven't admitted to yet, and yet act like all women are subjugated in all forms of porn. It takes TWO TO TANGO. Always has. Therefore I can't help but look at the participation of men and women equally. Women get paid more and they tend to have more rights in that world.

Next, I think you're overlooking the issue that your whole presentation isn't really that solid. It seems like you read about women needing rights, a point i'll admit as I support liberal agendas etc...however to say that porn is misogynistic...when its just sex...is a little beyond me. There are some totally foul things out there and i'm not condoning that...but like I said... your average smash session puts way more focus on the girl who is the real star of the show. You really come off like you're more enlightened about it than you really are. People stay taking a few classes on sociology and gender and think they've got it all figured out. Yeah, you might have exposed yourself to various types of ideas you never considered...but you're not even recognizing your own bias. You for one said you were addicted to porn...which says a lot. You might be trying to justify this obsession by proposing this...Additionally I think you're taking this a little too seriously. I don't watch porn for the guys. I barely even notice the guys. I just like seeing the girls get to it. You seemed to be hinged on this notion that i'm secretly paying attention to the man... I'll be the first to give credence to a subliminal thought or a subconscious notion...but you're wilding dude. I can't recall one time I thought about a dude watching porn...and i'm not even homophobic. Like i said, i'm all for the gay agenda but you missed me if your point is to raise homosexuality as every mans secret objective.

OP's looking way too into it.

When I watch porn, it's because i wanna see a naked chick with a penis in, on, and around her.

Nothing more, nothing less.
