superstar was literally the most sold sneaker at one point. saying superstars were never in is just as ******* stupid as james saying bad bunny isn't that popular

ok you're talking crazy now.

the adidas superstar is one of the if not the most iconic sneakers in the usa as well as the world. Its popularity coming from the inner city youth and spread like a wildfire to every other corner of america, rich or poor, globally and elsewhere. For decades. Not years. Not waves. Decades.

that shoe never goes out of style

that shoe has been mass produced for decades not years. decades.
I mean ffs they made a LEGO set of the superstar haha - people under selling that show’s popularity are wild

And how many people casually rock shell toes on a day to day basis?

You're the one actually talking crazy like everyone was rocking shell toes from 1990-2014!

You're talking about ONE SHOE just like the ONE picture of Run DMC rocking them in the mid-80's.

No one's saying that shell toes weren't popular, but the masses weren't and still aren't rocking shell toes.

Just like the masses weren't and aren't rocking these

Yes some wore them, but don't act like they were hot in the streets and everyone was rocking them.

Jus t like shell toes.

I don't think anyone on here said that superstas were never in, that's something that you said.

you kidding right?

tell me you kidding?

where do you live?

for every yeezy you see 10 people are wearing superstars

young old black white healthy disabled

you have to understand there are shoes that are "in" for a small group of hypebeast and fans then theres an iconic shoe that no matter what race, age, or abomination you are, a shoe that never goes out of style and never stops selling.

there are casual people who don’t care about sneakers that make up the most pure purchases for any company. It’s how Under Armor can stay in business while not ever having a hot silhouette. How air monarchs outsell J’s because they’re in **** like rack room shoes

Arguing the importance of this vs. having models people actually care about on a sneaker collecting website that obviously revolves around a certain type of sneaker that ****** line up for/etc. because you don’t like Ye is hilarious

Like dude said. The hyped models make the overall brand cool which puts it in the casual consumers head. Shelltoes have obviously been around forever though I don’t think there’s any correlation between those and Ye other than to make a reach to discredit the impact Ye did have lol

oh my god fam dont do this. im old enough to guide you thru that time period and the popularity of the superstar from that time period you stated

superstar wasnt just all about the bboy era in the 80's. it can be argued the resurgence of the bboy and dirty south rap scene rise pushed the superstar in the 90's to an even bigger plateau

just admit you were wrong man

I think celebrity endorsement is waning a bit. With IG cemented and da rise of tiktok I really just picture brands reaching for that segment through influencers
I think you have a point here. Ye might have been the last of the big celeb influencers, especially since he benefitted from being the only major non-athlete with a deal from Nike, which itself is a massive deal.

Air Monarchs were Nike’s best selling sneaker forever, would you say those were “in” as well?

I'll admit it I'm wrong.

People are and were rocking shell toes more than the rocked Air Force 1's from 2000 until now.

Shell toes are everywhere and I see 1 out of every 3 people wearing them. I see newborns to old people wearing them. They're literally the most popular shoes ever especially in the past 20 years.

They're flying off the shelves, they struggle to keep them in stock and it's been like that for the past 20 years.

You're right and I'm wrong, "AdidasTalk" is also a very popular message board that gets bogged down from the 10's of millions of visits per minute.

Never thought I’d see the day people would hate Ye so much they come out of the woodwork to defend Adidas Superstars on the NT Yeezy Thread… wild times lol

The numbers don’t lie fam, Adidas is in quite a hot mess financially now. Hell, don’t even take my word for it:

https://www.thestreet.com/investing/kanye-breakup-makes-adidas-problems-worse

This is optics. True numbers won't be known until the earnings call next quarter. The numbers they are valuating is simply taking into account any product they already have or is in production that has YZY branding. Adidas needs to decide if it's going to destroy the product or spend the money to re-label it.

The smart move would be to unleash it to the masses again. Resellers won't buy it up so the average person can hopefully cop. Bonus if adidas drops the price due to no yeezy branding nor having to pay him his cut.

Resellers are now stuck with product they may not be able to move or will need to discount to sell, because in today's climate no one is gonna pay high for Yeezy stuff to be politically correct. They'll need to sit on it for a year or so till it blows over. At least that's what I think.

I'd say that people were buying adidas before yeezys. people were wearing stan smiths and superstars before ye, nmds ubs and superstars during ye and who knows post ye.

Ye is HUGELY responsible for Adidas success here in the US, thats a fact. But it seems like some folks have the idea that they were a struggling brand til Ye came and singlehandedly saved them from drowning and thats not true at all. Of course the acquisition of Kanye brought Adidas next level hype and growth, but they were already trending upward with the introduction of the Boost tech, which is still arguably the best cushioning system on the market to this day.

At the end of the day, if you like Yeezy's and find them comfy, then you should continue to rock em. Let the hypebeasts worry about the extra ish.

Uh huh take dat take dat now tell me more semantics that don't matter in this conversation

it is what it is. most of these most sold sneakers i can get almost anywhere like.......superstars.

dude what is going on with ye? why would he want to drop everything just to back to another company?

I live in los angeles and frequent the OC, inland empire the SGV and the SFV.

The majority of shoes I see in all demographics of the people that attend hat events which is vintage clothing, patches and pins as well are:

Vans, adidas (shell toes, stan smith and forums), jordans and dunks with a very small to non-existent amount of yeezy's in the mix and most were the slides not the kicks These events brings in about 10-15K people.

I went to a LA kings game recently and again, more dunks, more all white shell toes/stan smith type kicks, more jordans and more generic Nike's (monarchs, AF1) and crocs and very little to no yeezys. How many people does Staples, excuse me Crypto arena hold? and this was a home opener game so it was about 80% sold out. And yes as a sneakerhead and fitted hat collector I always check out peoples kicks.

This also goes for all the malls I go to and random target, trader joes, etc., etc.,

sneakerhead /kanye stans want to believe the day to day life anywhere is freaking sneakercon and it's not. What's hot in "your streets" isn't what's hot on main street USA.

And to the person saying nobody wears shell toes? grow the circle of people you hang out or the places you frequent 🤦‍♂️ Saying that is similar to saying you never see anyone wearing vans or chuck taylors.

For ya dudes that still don't understand what Kanye has been saying.

Look at the last sentence ... Antisemitic rapper . ..

Who's the founder of Complex???

Iight!

He is antisemitic. He literally said I can say antisemitic things and adidas won’t drop me. He said it fam.

Y’all think kayne is deep or something he just a mentally disturbed boomer. Candice ownes must be hella deep cause all he is doing is repeating her taking points.

Kayne just a reactionary boomer yah hate to see him go out sad like that.

Sad part is lot of y’all going to end up just like him caping for his reactionary actions.
