It's most of why we fight over religion, oppress gays, commit suicide, write books, raise children, or even squabble over petty $%$! on the internet. All people have something that they believe is inherently  "right". And the only way to get that feeling of validation is to see that others agree with whatever it is we feel so strongly about.
