One of those things that I don't really have the evidence for but I believe- some(majority) conservative-type white people honestly think minorities are going to team up and overthrow or enslave them.

Alot of them really think they are being victimized or aren't being protected when they get called out for the nonsense they try to pull

Been thinking this lately as well. Especially with the climate the media has been attempting to build for awhile.

I think the fear has some key points that have to be considered

1) if we make the borders lax just how many people are going to flee mexico. Sure the illegals we have now are one thing. but if you open the floodgates it WOULD affect the job market, economy, crime rates, etc. How much is anyones guess..

2) Rich people can't bear the thought of illegal children getting automatic citizenship and access to public education and healthcare that their tax dollars pay for.

3) Having open borders is disrespectful to the persons who come to the US legally or are still waiting on a list.

That's pretty much it. After that the rationale stops and its all sensationalist talking points.

To put it blatantly, there are two groups people who are truly afraid of this new wave of illegal immigrants. They are the racists and the low skilled laborers.

In the 1800 and 1900s we had mostly immigrants from Europe so it was okay for them to come in. Did some groups hate other groups, sure it was part of it. , The Asian immigrants faced the same sort of issues that the Hispanics face today though since they looked different so everyone united against them essentially,
Secondly, it is the low-skilled laborers who are most afraid because they will take their jobs. Sure there are H1B1 Visas, but those are limited. High skill jobs are not an immediate threat from these immigrants.

Educate yourself on the standard of living on the reservations. Look at the statistics for poverty and drug/alcohol abuse. People have this idea in their head that because a few tribes have casinos that they got reparations. They got jack ****. Black people got the short end of the stick. Native americans don't even have a ******* stick and no one cares. They can't even get a football team to change their damn name.

Now as for the thread's topic. It would be hypocritical of me to to have negative views on illegal immigration. My grandmother was an illegal immigrant (no I'm not a mexican ricky

) and if not for her I have no idea where I, my mother, my sister, my aunt or my cousins would be right now. She busted her *** working hard wiping the snotty noses of rich people's children. Barely got to see her own damn kids, but if you ask her if it was worth it she'd say yes every single time and as soon as her chance came to be a legalized citizen she took it. These people aren't here to purposefully stress our economy or whatever BS scare tactic they're using nowadays. They just want a better standard of living for them and their children.

The richest reservations are very white, white folks breed themselves into that money. Also you have local governments that are trying to find a way to tax it or put fees on it. And I guess, just generally speaking, rich folks don't want to share. There so many social issues within the impoverished idk that just giving them money would solve everything.

My only problem with illegal immigrants is they take space from people who try to come here legally. The US can only allow a certain amount of immigrants every year and the amount of illegals affects how many legals they can accept. There are folks in Africa that don't have the luxury of just walking over here, they have to jump through all the legal hoops and at the end of the day Jose just walked in illegally and took their spot. We shouldnt justify illegal immigrants because the work they do or the conditions they live in back home, they aren't the only ones, they're just the closest

Illegals whom are gang members i.e. MS13, that rob, kill, assault, rape (Convicting, jailing, deporting cost how much?)

Identity theft involving illegals

Then you have the social services funding element like medical resources, public education, food stamps, etc.

Lastly it's not fair to the legal immigrants that actually went through the process.

Yes the ones already here that have their kids in school, cooking our meals, cleaning our homes/yards, picking our produce deserve some form of amnesty program. However going forward... think logically can our nation sustain 500,000+ illegal immigrants coming here every year?

The process is horrible for legal immigrants not because of illegals. It is because of politicians and bureaucrats

They keep changing laws, under funding departments, causing backlogs, adjusting the number of visas available a year. "Jose" rolleyes real cute btw) is not causing any of this.

The problem is that because a large majority of Americans and Congress don't want to actually tackle illegal immigration in a sensible way, they resort to things like like budget cuts.

Same thing they are doing with the IRS over Obamacare.

-And BTW, Africans migrate to Europe in droves too.

I dunno when being born in abject poverty, surrounded by violence, but having to the option leave your homeland and family behind to make a dangerous trip to cross into a foreign country is consider a "luxury"
