To me, Stockton was the place where people who were desperate to get into the housing market went to buy, since they were being priced out of the Bay Area. Now I have no problem with home ownership in a little city as long as you're getting a home you can afford. Yet I continually hear about how people with houses in Stockton are going into foreclosure, etc. etc. So in my mind, your average person who bought a home in Stockton couldn't afford to buy a home in the Bay Area during the boom, was impatient/desperate enough to move to Stockton, still couldn't afford a fixed year 30 year mortgage thus having to get these Jumbo ARMs etc., and didn't do any research for what might happen.
Plus, I've been to Modesto and Stockton...yeesh.

Nice going there...Next time do actual research instead of just slapping Chicago on the list because you needed to reach your 10-city quota.
"They...uhh...have 10% tax...So...uhh...There."
So now my city is the top 5 most miserable place in the country? Whatever you say Forbes.

I can tell you never been in the hood in Miami. It is far from a playground, some places look third world. DC is only really really bad in the summer time.Originally Posted by lnMyMind
