Don't get me wrong, what happened was terrible but from what I'm reading Gatti had a history of abuse and supposedly pushed her to to ground and/orpunched her in the face earlier that night. She must have just snapped.

No disrespect to Gatti, MJ, or any of the other athletes/entertainers that have lost their lives this year....but why does it take "celebrity" deathsfor people to realize this? Like where do you guys live? People die in DROVES every day. REAL PEOPLE with 9 to 5s that you see and touch every day. Why dopeople act like the sky is falling when a few celebs die and not much attention is paid to when a ++$+ load of people get murdered over the course of a weekendin Chicago or 9 people die in a train crash in DC?

My point is that when they die in these back-to-back amounts like this...people always say "What is going on?" like celebrities aresupposed to be invincible or something...but this type of %$@% happens EVERY day with regular people...so how come people "can't believe it" whenit happens to them. Chicks been merking their husbands forever...how come people think it's "crazy" that it could have happened to Gatti orMcNair?

I totally hear what you're saying...
I think everyone has been desensitized to an extent when there is news surrounding a death of a "normal" Joe. Only when it's a mass casualty orsomething truly "shocking," do people stop what they're doing and actually take a moment to realize a person lost their life.
Many people are just infatuated with celebrities to the point where they don't realize that (like you said) the normal person who works the 9-5 getsforgotten in instances where their life ends abruptly.

As far as people saying things are "crazy" when it happens to McNair and Gatti is IMO simply putting these guys up on a pedestal due to theircelebrity, and not realizing that something bad could happen to them at any time....mostly due to the choices they made in their lives.
I'm not going to sit here and say that out of all of the celeb deaths over the past couple of weeks, McNair's didn't effect me at all. I wasreally saddened because he was a guy I looked up to and respected. In knowing the circumstances of how he died, I can't say that I approve of the way hewas living his life. He made some idiotic choices that ultimately led to his death. What it does is make me appreciate a lot of my morals/ethics/standardsthat I have on a day-to-day basis.

Boxing legend Arturo Gatti's sexystripper-wife choked the life out of him with her purse strap while he slept in a swanky Brazilian resort, cops charged Sunday.
Amanda CarineBarbosa Rodrigues, a 23-year-old former exotic dancer, looked unfazed as cops escorted her out of a police station in Recife, Brazil.
The stunner's eyes were hidden by giant designer sunglasses as she walked to a police cruiser in low-rise blue jeans and a clingy white top that showedoff the toned physique that first caught Gatti's eye.
The busty bombshell's purse was found stained with blood in their rented apartment at the luxurious Dorisol Resort in the turquoise-water paradise townof Porto de Galinhas.
"She is the only suspect," a police spokesman said.
The couple - who had met while she danced at a club in Brazil - were vacationing there to celebrate a second honeymoon after rekindling their relationshipfollowing a brief breakup, friends said.
Carl Moretti, who promoted many ofGatti's fights, said he always worried the 37-year-old former Jersey City star spent too much time in strip clubs picking up the wrong women.
"Among friends who knew him, no one felt that this was a good relationship," Moretti said. "The relationship was not based on love. It couldget violent at times."
Moretti said he had heard through Gatti's manager, PatLynch, that Rodrigues threw a lamp at Gatti on a recent trip to Montreal.
"They were always fighting," he said. "It never stopped. But clearly, you didn't think that it would lead to this."
Authorities detained the tight-bodied beauty early yesterday because of contradictions in her story when she was first questioned. Police called her versionof what had happened "inconsistent and incoherent."
Rodrigues could not explain how she had spent nearly 10hours in the room without noticing that Gatti was dead, authorities said.
The couple went to a bar Friday night and began to argue, witnesses said. Rodrigues told cops Gatti got drunk, hit her and pushed her to the floor.
Witnesses said the two were still fighting when they returned from the bar early Saturday morning.
Rodrigues was being examined at the Medical Legal Institute near their vacation spot and will spend the night in prison.
Gatti, who won 40 of his 49 professional fights, including 31 by knockout, was raised in Montreal but became a star in Atlantic City, where he won his first title. He moved to New Jersey in 1991 and delighted crowds there until hisretirement in 2007.
Nicknamed Thunder, he won world championships in two different weight classes, 130 pounds and 140pounds.
"She murdered her husband and left her child an orphan," said Lou DiBella, a former executive at HBO who put together several of Gatti's more memorablefights.
"Now she's going to spend the rest of her life in prison. This is just too much a tragedy."
