Asian Culture Discussion Thread

Every time I see elderly Asian people I want to ask if they need help. Went for a walk yesterday and this older Asian lady was walking by herself. Was really thinking what's the right move here.
****ed how our society has come to this point

What would yall do? On one hand I don't want to impose and make them feel weaker than they feel themselves. On the other hand, I'd regret it if something eventually happened.

This is a very natural Asian reaction to have during these stressful times. As each younger generation is more American Westernized, worry that they forget history and tradition from before. But our parents raised us to be better than average.

However you react depends on your individual comfort level. In many cities there are organized patrols. These are spotlighted on nearly every single Asian Insta Acct been posted. Go through their feed.

You’re self aware, location aware and situation aware. Nothing wrong with stopping her, friendly chat if she okay, warning her to be careful and even asking her if need assistance. Escort if wanted is appropriate. Observing at distance is appropriate.

Can’t rely or expect to depend on anyone but Ourselves.
Nothing wrong with being extra careful these days.

Sidenote (because this thread went left) being a Latino from Flushing, most of the local businesses around me are Asian owned. So, I have been supporting a lot of these restaurants around the way during this pandemic. White Bear, The Coop, New Kissena are my Top 3 spots. Restaurants in general have taken a hit during Covid, especially Asian ones.

That's actually a good thing. E.g. like walking with a slow senior citizen on a pedestrian lane.

I haven’t taken any pics from New Kissena, it’s your typical Chinese Takeout spot (good food tho). Some of these other pics I think I posted in the Grub thread:

Bulgogi quesadilla with sweet potato fries from The Coop

There are a couple of dumplings spots I rock with like Chu Kee, across the street from Starbucks. Great dumplings and cheap in price.

Yo this thread is wild right now...

:smh:

We can’t even agree that White Supremacy is clearly the issue/enemy.

My heart and prayers goes to the Asian community. You will rise above this.
My bro. I'm confused and a bit saddened.

It's a given that white supremacy is the core of these current events.

The last four years have been fuel for both individuals and systems to ramp up their ongoing oppression of minorities.

It's a given. It's engrained in discussion. Yet, there are others painting a broad stroke that the asian NTers arent acknowledging the root of it. That is not the case though

At least for myself I can say that.

that’s my patna being interviewed at the beginning. hella proud of him for holding it down for cambodian communities in LBC

if any yall played pick up ball at UCLA between like ‘05-‘10, you might recognize this cat.. dude used to, and still does, hoop with low top vans. not even kiddin, i ran in a league with him and he’d be bustin folks’ *** from the perimeter with some ripped up vans. his knees are gonna hate him soon

nothing to elaborate. its well known within the asian-american community.

there are plenty of asian girls who want to be white and only use their asian card only when it benefits them.
just like BLM, theres plenty of virtue signalers within the asian community itself.

when the messenger and message arent aligned i dont take it seriously.

her message was correct, but what her social media page looks like shes just a virtue signaler

you as a non asian wouldnt understand how these asian females think about us
I think in the Asian community in general. Look at all the celebs in the Philippines who use whitening soap and only prefer to date mixed euro

Damn, I think I need to go get some dumplings for lunch.

that young man just dropped more knowledge about Asian American history in a 3 minute poem than what a majority of US students receive in their entire academic career.

our schools need to throw out their current trash *** history curriculum and replace it all with courses rooted in Critical Race Theory. CRT is World History, it is U.S. History and it teaches us more about civic and political engagement than any Econ/Gov class has ever taught us. Unfortunately, keeping folks clueless about the legacies of their people is by design:

"Those who fail to look back to where they came from will not reach where they’re going” -Jose Rizal

Followup:

-Seattle attack. This flipping moron been a case from coast to coast. Caught.

Followup: legal news. Victimized again.
