Asian Culture Discussion Thread

By reformed, do you mean she no longer acts like a 17 year old? I'm cool with that. Like I said I'm probably considered a reformed male version myself :lol ABGs started getting extremely irritating to me when I was 24-25ish and started taking life more seriously (am 27 now).

Different phases.

Middle school: Spiky Hair, DBZ t shirts with long sleeve shirts underneath, rubber banded jeans/dickies, all white K swiss, white tees, Honda belt buckles :{ :x

High school-Sophomore Year of College: Lots of LRG, Crooks and Castles, colorful fitted caps, colorful Nike SBS, earrings

Junior Year of college-24: Ditched the tacky wardrobe but added a giant sleeve tattoo, bought the go-to ABB car (used G37), kicked it with people that did nothing but drink Remy 1738, pop mollies, hit up raves, vape all day etc

I outgrew most of the people I grew up with mentally. My closest friend circle and the girls I date are mostly still Asian but they're all the "reformed and know how to have a good time without doing too much" type like me :lol

I wonder if this was just a Bay Area/LA thing. Back then my friends and I used to spend hours looking for DBZ shirts that no one else in the squad had, since we all had at least 5-6 of them each :lol :{

Middle school life was rolling through the yard in our DBZ shirts x spiked hair x rubber banded baggy jeans uniform, squatting, and playing 13/other card games all afternoon :rollin

It was such a culture shock when I ended up going to a mostly white private high school. Had white dudes in their Hollister tees and fake @#$ surfer hair staring at me like I was some type of freak showing up in that type of outfit. Thankfully I found some Filipino dudes to kick it with, and we eventually formed my high school's hypebeast committee :{ :lol

Stumbled upon this thread, and reading through the last few + the pics, have made me realized how quickly time was flown by. I'm like, damn, I'm old...too old to even be consider a hyung or oppa now. Makes me wonder wth I'm still lurking NT for lol.

Not surprised to see the "gangsta" days of the mid- late 90s; and the azn phase of early- mid 2000s, that I grew up in, evolve into what it is today.
Some things I guess just don't change. There are definitely different aspects of the current generation that makes me

. But overall, it's great to see Asian American culture progressing and growing.

Dated one materialistic girl, I rather not do it again

especially with me not being into streetwear or sneakers that much anymore.
same. i'd rather not date another person who is into shoes anymore, either. i lost LOTS of money from being with someone like that.

^^ an ABG (Asian Baby Girl) is a relatively new stereotype of an Asian Woman. Usually, from the ages of 17-24 (honestly can be more or less) this stereotype is highlighted by an empty personality with no real foundations in anything other than their love of material things (raves, molly, boba, food, social media) and is just outright annoying. Physically an ABG is characterized as having **** tons of makeup and metallic grey/lavender hair.

If any of you are looking to see some in person just head over to Dave n Buster's in Milpitas on a Friday night or to any Soulection/HBK event/1015 Folsom/Sundaze/Audio on the Bay etc
THIS.

around ~7 years ago, all the ABGs had the blonde ombre/highlights. now it's the grey/ lavender

lowkey i still kinda want a grey ombre, but i think i'm too old for that now
