Seen this happen a couple times and it’s always in this situation where a team dont wanna accept the L so they wanna check up everything all of a sudden...Be more than happy to give up fouls

"And 1" is a foul call and check up where I play and rightly so.

I can't speak for all NYers but whenever I've played a foul call is a foul call
And 1 is an acknowledgement of a foul occurring but it is not the call itself

Yea around my way you literally call for a foul if that’s what you want ....And 1 is just something personal for you on that possession, you not getting the rock back no matter the result of the play

nah you call "and-1" the assumption is youre calling a foul.

It means your defender is a ***** *** ***** who can't guard you even when he fouls
But you're not CALLING a foul

There is a difference between a foul and dirty. That type of play is dirty.
I'm 32. If I'm playing pickup, and someone has an open layup like that, I'm just letting them have it. Not worth hurting someone or getting hurt. I will also launch the ball at your head if you take me out while I'm in the air haha.

Tonight. Pickup at 24 Hour. Guy brought his 16 year old son to play. Kid is ok, not great, typical mediocre high school step-back everything and makes 30%. He’s covering and being covered by a 20 year old who is WORKING this kid on both ends. Kid’s dad pops off and calls the 20 year old trash and tells his son to get on his ***.
20 year old scores on a deep three, turns and tells kid “you’re dad better shut it or I’m going to keep killing you”. Kid FIRES the ball at the 20 year old and hits him in the head (kid is 6-3 and around 180). 20 year old goes after him but stops because of assaulting a minor. Kid continues to call him names of female body parts and dogs and all the adult could do was take it and dad just stood by laughing.
Question - what should or could 20 year old do except leave?

We called fouls, but it was universally accepted around my parts that it was a soft move to do so.
And 1 doesn't mean or will result in anything. You're just taunting your defender at that point. If you miss after calling And 1, you're getting ridiculed.

I am so far out of basketball scene (playing and watching) I have no idea where that league takes place. I got a friend who coaches Newcastle who always talks about some Skins summer league, but I thought it was high schooler. I see Trae's name on the court so probably somewhere in Norman (where OU is, about 30 minutes south of OKC). I know he just donated a milli to the construction of a sports megacomplex that is gonna be done in like 3 yrs
I could hoop with those dudes. I saw not 1 oz of athleticism.
