Better Call Saul Season Thread - Season Six - April 18th

The show is leading up to him becoming Saul, wasn't that the idea the entire time?

I'm totally cool with a 5 season show with only one season being Saul.

The first two seasons of Breaking Bad are not fast paced either so I am 1000% on board with Gilligan and company on their vision for Jimmy McGill.

Gilligan isn't above criticism, but I'm on board with the premiere.

It did take a step back from the finale because the impression you're left with was Jimmy turning into Saul.. which was a great way to end the season. But that's not where we pick up with this episode. It's smart, of course, to let it play out rather than rush.. but I can understand that feeling.

Mike's small role was great as usual. I loved how principled and logical he is as a criminal. He knows that car is too risky and flashy.. to the point that he won't even be seen riding in it. And just like he predicted, Daniel got caught up in trouble because of it.

I'd rather watch Slipping Jimmy than Saul.

I hope the Cinnabon flashback scene is the last entry into the Series and we never really get more than a few episodes of the Saul Character.

Hopefully Saul will only be shown in like flashback scenes during a Court Trial and that's what will tie us to Saul and not a full on Transition from Jimmy to Saul.

Mike was my fave character on BB and I'm honestly watching this show because he's on it. I like how even though he was only in 2 brief scenes, they got the most out of him in those scenes.
and the fact he was willing to take his own car was :hat

I never got that impression.

I'm not looking for it, either, though.

Eh, expected more from the show's return. Wasn't a bad episode by any means but it wasn't what I was expecting. Just wanted a lil more oomph I guess.

While not a full blown "NOW HE'S SAUL, EVERYONE" kind of moment, but that seemed to be how I felt at the end of last season... whatever was holding him back, wouldn't be there anymore. That was my read on it, but that's not to say it was the only interpretation, of course.

Obviously, it takes TIIIIIME to get from Jimmy to who we knew on Breaking Bad.

I saw the end of S1 as simply one of literally hundreds of moments that lead Jimmy to Saul. Honestly, when he said, "It's never stopping me again," I thought, "Yeah, it will." :lol

I didn't think, "Aaawwww yeeeaaah, S2 is going to open with SAUL! YES!"

Oh yeah, no doubt. I'm not saying I was expecting Saul from jump but I was expecting some more.....IDK....Just more :lol.

Def looking forward to this week's episode.

Like Breaking Bad, I expect Better Call Saul to get better with time.

You can't rush these things. That's what good writing is.
This! Hopefully the over zealot members from season 1 relax this season and make this thread tolerable.

This. Zero expectations from me this season. Not gonna go down the road of comparing it to BB like I did last season. I'm not even gonna worry myself over what direction I want things to go. I think if this season is just as good as last season, then it will be a success in my opinion. I don't expect anything more than that.

solid episode, I'm out here trying to decipher the flash forward scenes like they mean something though, I need to calm down with that :lol

In "Granite State," S5 Ep 15 of BB, Walt and Saul are with Ed from the vacuum repair shop who is in the process of giving them new identities. At one point in the episode Saul says that if he's lucky, "he'll be managing a Cinnabon in Omaha." After this, Saul says goodbye to Walt and leaves for Nebraska.

I think from what I remember from S1 that they wanted him on to work the case since he started it but there was a chance who could stay on and be capable of being a partner one day.

Jimmy had no steady income before this. Just that payday with that couple that stole all that money. Then getting all those old ppl as clients and handling wills and what not.

Don't forget about the 20K he took from HHM for bringing the case.
