^those Haiti vids are awesome! seeing colors on the houses on the mountain side that way looks dope, it is a small thing but hopefully it is something that can inspire...

i'm sure this was already posted here but i think it is worth posting again for those who maybe have yet to read it or even to re-read for those who have, there is so much to absorb it touches on so many aspects of the disfunction in american society, it is hard to read because not it is rather lengthy with a lot of content to digest (the footnotes, links, & videos all are really insightful) but also rather depressing whenyou realize the magnitude/scope of the problems at hand...it is worthwhile reading though

Prison presented a solution: jobs for whites, and warehousing for blacks. Mass incarceration “widened the income gap between white and black Americans,” writes Heather Ann Thompson, a historian at the University of Michigan, “because the infrastructure of the carceral state was located disproportionately in all-white rural communities.” Some 600,000 inmates are released from America’s prisons each year, more than the entire population of America’s prisons in 1970—enough people, according to Pager, to “fill every one of the fast-food job openings created annually nearly five times over.”"
