Sushi buffet is the bizness. It's expensive for sushi so might as well go to an AYCE one to get your money's worth. Best and fairly priced one was Sushi Pier in Reno, NV.

Man that is hardly a buffet. That is your average sushi restaurant that is easy to hit up on the go. For a real Japanese buffet that has all types of sushi including sashimi check this place out. www.todai.com

Fuji's the spot in Davis, CA (those signs looked familiar). They also have competition called Davis Sushi Buffet a block away.
It's like sushi boat, boats holding about 4-6 plates floating on top of a moving stream of water (these are usually oversauced, older rolls, and if you're the first ones there either for lunch or dinner, the sushi is usually from the night before (refrigerated) or the lunch period).
Aside from this, you can also order sashimi, nigiri, and specific rolls that will be made on the spot. The places to avoid are Chinese buffets, every since one I have ate in has been terrible and I have never seen one person who is Asian in there, let alone heard Mandarin or Cantonese being spoken in those houses of soggy fried food, mangled "sushi" and usually tacos and pizza and potato salad. Those Chinese buffets are not Chinese, let alone authentic Chinese. What they are are bad or rather they are authentically bad.
