I still feel that you could have moved boozer in this deal. Not deng. Cavs were desperate. You could have gotten better deals for Deng at the deadline.

Sadly enough this is so true, and I can't say I disagree.
As a fan it's just frustrating. Then again I really wish that Rose would try to persuade other big names to sign aboard.

You must not remember what happened when Boozer left Cleveland for Utah, yes the Cavs were desperate but not stupid enough to pay the rest of Boozer's contract.
Also, please tell me what better deal we could've got for Deng at the deadline? By that time, we would've looked desperate to other teams around the league because everyone knew Deng wasn't coming back. If we waited until the deadline we would've got FLEECED I can guarantee it.

Teague was the 29th pick in the draft, a very weak draft. The only player drafted after him that is having a pretty solid career is Draymond Green, and that's not saying much

Aside from bringing Miritoc over nxt season, I don't see where we spend our new "cap flexibility. " We still can't afford a max player unless you lose Taj or Joakim. ....I dunno guys.

If we amnesty Boozer we'll have the flexibilty to do whatever we want. Add in the fact Kirk, Nazr, DJ, and Mike James come off the books too. I think we're in a good position at this point.

Using the amnesty on Boozer would clear up close to $17 million, but that's still not enough to sign a max player. You'd need to shave off another $3-4 million to do it.

Yeah, you're right but it's still not enough. Remember, there's a salary cap max you have to stay under. Part of the reason why Chicago traded Deng was because he wanted around $15 million a year and also for luxury tax purposes.
Freeing up Boozer would drop the Bulls' payroll to around $48 million which is committed to around 9 players for next season. Now, you need at least 12 active players on every NBA roster. Depending on what the salary situation looks like (assuming 3 players get minimum deals), the Bulls would be left with $14 million in projected cap space to sign a free agent.
Now, you also have to subtract cap holders for each empty spot and also the rookie (might be 2 because you guys have the Bobcats pick which is top 10 protected) for 2014. Considering all of this, this now drops the cap space to $10 million. Which isn't enough to sign players such as Lebron James (highly unlikely--He wants the max), and Carmelo Anthony (unlikely, because $10 mill would be a severe paycut).
Players that the Bulls should look into and would be a more realistic target is Danny Granger. He might leave Indiana and would be a great replacement for Deng.
Honestly, what's hurting you guys is Derrick Rose. He's eating up at $18 million this year and $19 million next year in cap space and isn't playing at all, due to injury.
The man plays with such a physical style that his knee just isn't going to hold up. This will be the case going forward until he changes his game. And honestly, I don't think he's the type of player to do that. A lot of his game is dependent on torque and quick movement which is slowly deteriorating his knee.
Look at Amare Stoudamire for example. All those years playing above the rim wore out his knees. He saved himself a couple of year by developing a perimeter game and some type of post game as well. If Amare never made that adjustment--he'd probably be out of the league right now.

Good breakdown of the cap situation.
Only way we get melo is if we trade for him, dont know if thats even on the bulls radar. But if we trade lets say taj and butler for melo i dont think that makes the bulls that much better. Its a good sign the bulls were ahead of the deng situation and got something in return, but all these conditions on them make it hard to judge.
will miss Lu he was a damn good player and seemed like a real good guy as well. wish him success.

I agree with you on this. Trading for Melo and giving away Taj Gibson and Butler would be working backwards for you guys. If the Bulls somehow was able to keep Butler and Gibson and get Melo, then it would be the perfect situation for Melo.
Melo is an incredible player, but he's just not the type of guy to get you over the hump on his own. He's somewhat of a ball stopper and needs to have a PG that will run the offense. Also, he's not that great of a defender and if he can be in a team full of perimeter defenders and rebounders (like the Bulls now) he'd probably take you guys to the Finals.
Trading for Melo isn't going to work, unless you get a 3rd team involved. Also, you need to consider if Melo would resign with whoever he ends up with as well. Maybe a 3-team deal consisting the Bulls, Knicks and Clippers would be a possibility. Of course, Melo would prefer the Clippers and the Bulls could somehow land Blake Griffin--Highly unlikely though.

They are content with their current roster. T They are looking for a player that is consistent and can play good defense or in short improve their roster. Deng is a much better option for them than Boozer. As I and others have said before, NO TEAM WANTS ANY PARTS OF BOOZERS CONTRACT.
