Bulls offseason Thread

The fact that we paid Taj 9 mil a year is what gets me. I hate that contract more and more by the day :{

Nazr never resigned lol, he resigned with the bulls today. They need to see if they can restructure Taj Gibsons contract cause he isnt playing for his money.

the taj they were paying is the block brother taj who had asik backing him up

the taj we have is the slightly better than boozer taj mostare starting to dislike

nazr resigning wasnt a bad thing at all

asik didnt walk at all his stupid contract offer wasnt matched & that was by far the 100000% correct thing to do

marco was replaced by dunleavy ...most consider it an upgrade

nate is walking but i think he will realize anyone who can give you a multi yr deal & pay what you want also will be in the depth of the league....take the yr play alongside d rose & overall playing for a title contender

coming off the bench for the bulls > starting for the kings or bobcats & seeing 15-25 W's a season
Nazr being the back up is a bad thing becuase he sucks. he's only good for being physical. it would have been much better to draft a back up.

letting asik walk wasn't the correct thing to do, they should have traded him.

we'll see if dunleavy can be as clutch as Marco was this year, but i doubt it.

Regarding the 2014 Plan...have you guys checked the list of potential free agent signees? If you haven't I posted it a few pages ago. LeBron is the only game changer available...that's it. I'm not sure what Mirotic will be or if he'll come over at that point either. The point is, you can't really say the 2014 plan is the end all, be all. It's a mirage, IMO.

That article full of BS. When we had a legit bench, Thibs played 10 guys a game. But then management let everybody walk.

All I can do is laugh at the fools holding on to this big 2014 move, stop listening to the FO and every article you see online. In 2014 we still have the same problem our PF is avg at best, doesn't play defense, cant play against taller or more athletic Pfs and guess what there are no impact Pfs free agents until 2015.

Btw they werent even going to contact nate or marco, thibs put that word in especially the nate one after coaching him in boston. FACT

Gar signed Boozer to cornerstone contract which he never was, that choice has crippled us, he panicked when rose went down signed kirk to a two year deal, i like kirk but he should been a one year like everyone else and he drafted teague dont get me started there. He let our decent bench walk, and by far the most infuriating move and this isnt hindsight talk i was heated then and now, when jamal crawford expressed interest in coming back and playing with rose he decided to sign rip. Man bye you want me to have faith in gar based on what

It was typical Gar/Pax cockiness to drop the ball on Omer... O wanted to stay here and be apart of this team, FO did a terrible job of evaluating O's play, and the market for him during the season... They put off signing him during the year cause they figured nobody wanted him and he wasn't a priority, he wouldn't go anywhere. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Had they attempted to sign him during the year we would have never reached this debate. He would have signed for what backup C's were going for, maybe slightly a little more off potential. Instead they waited til FA started and the Rockets let their nuts hang and took him from us... Of course we weren't gonna match it, way too much money, but the mindset of putting it off til FA by the FO is what bit us in the ****.

Also, 2014 is a sham. No big names of immediate impact worth building around Pooh/Jo... Mirotic wants atleast 5 mil per his agent said, if he doesn't get that he has no problem staying in Europe per Fridell

I dont think the bulls are waiting for 14..i think they want get as many assets as possible build around rose and hope they strike gold with mirotic, and one of butler, snell, bobcats pick turn out to be studs...that is way more likely to happen than getting a allstar in free agency or trading for one.
Mirotic needs to be here a year from now, boozer is the worst, and dont let this season fool you....and don't get me wrong i still feel we have a good shot at beating the heat next year, i think the bulls are the only team in the east that have a shot.

JVG: Something seems wrong with Bulls
By Staff

Tom Thibodeau no longer has Ron Adams by his side, and Jeff Van Gundy can't understand why.
Jeff Van Gundy, who maintains a very close friendship with Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, believes Gar Forman's decision to fire Thibodeau's top assistant could signal a rift in the organization and could get in the way of what's best for the Bulls.

Podcast: 'Waddle & Silvy Show'

Jeff Van Gundy joins "Waddle & Silvy" to discuss how the firing of Ron Adams creates the impression there is a rift between the Bulls' front office and coaching staff. Listen

Forman fired Ron Adams, who was part of a staff that guided the Bulls to the NBA's best regular-season record in two of the past three seasons, on Tuesday without any explanation.

"I would liken it to if you have the Chicago Bears and you have a head coach who wanted to have a certain offensive coordinator and in an embarrassing fashion the GM came in and fired that guy," Van Gundy said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN Chicago 1000. "I would say certainly it seems like something is wrong. I read something in one of the Chicago news (stories) today that it does seem like a shot at Thibodeau, and for what reason I don't know. I don't pretend to be in the know there, but it certainly seems like something is amiss.

"And it's unfortunate because when you get in the situation the Bulls are in with a great player and pretty good players that surround that great player in Derrick Rose, you really have an opportunity. But most teams beat themselves from within, versus another team beating them. These types of little dust-ups and grabs for power usually get in the way of what's best for the team, and unfortunately it really harms the end result. And you hope if there is a problem or a rift that they're able to solve it, because they do have a pretty good team with a great player coming back, and really those three years there have been remarkable."

The Bulls and Thibodeau agreed to a four-year extension last October, but he didn't sign it until April, which raised eyebrows. Thibodeau said it just took time for lawyers to review it, but there had been stories that Thibodeau was upset he had to wait so long to be offered the extension considering his success and winning coach of the year honors.

"They have a remarkable coach and I'm not sure why you would want to hurt that remarkable coach or hurt that relationship with a remarkable coach, particularly one you've just given a long-term contract to," Van Gundy said.

Thibodeau was an assistant to Van Gundy in New York and Houston, and their friendship gives Van Gundy's analysis on the matter more weight.

"Management throughout the NBA now is taking more and more control over coaching staffs," said Van Gundy, who is an ESPN analyst. "I know this about Ron Adams, without knowing the inner workings of the Chicago Bulls, he is a great, great coach. He is completely devoted to the game of basketball.

"He and Thibodeau have a great friendship and working relationship, and so when you put all those things together, it seems like really strange timing. You just signed Tom Thibodeau to a long-term contract, and simultaneously you've taken away this guy who has meant so much to him and the Bulls' success. It's really, really odd too that it comes a day to two before his contract was to run out, so it really looks punitive in that it prevented him from going out and looking for other jobs. I find it very unfortunate, because Ron Adams has been a true credit to the coaching profession."

The Bulls introduced their two draft picks on Tuesday and Forman initially was not going to talk about the Adams dismissal, but he came back down and said it was his decision.

"I think Tom and I have a very good working relationship ..." Forman said. "We're not always going to agree on everything. But at the end of the day I think we both have the best interests of the Bulls moving forward as what our goal is, and we unite and move forward."

Thibodeau's only comments came via a statement the Bulls released.

"Ron is a great friend, an outstanding coach and I will miss him," Thibodeau was quoted as saying.

ALL.

OF.

THIS.

And that Berstein article is typical pro-org propaganda. It's all Thibs fault. Like someone said when we had a real bench Thibs wholesale subbed. ROUTINELY!

**** Gar & whoever else stands/agrees with him.

Marco signed for 3 mil a year. Are you telling me we couldnt offer that? He would have been a perfect backup 2 for us. We all know Thibs isnt going to give Snell much burn, he just doesnt trust rookies. A bench of Kirk, Marco, Dunleavy, Taj, and Naz is servicable.

And when we had a servicable bench Thibs used them perfect. We gotta give him somethin to work with instead of having him get blood from a turnip like he did with the bench last year

Of course we could have offered that cause didn't Dunleavy get signed for that? I don't know what to think but hopefully it will work itself out. Still doesn't mean at times this FO has you wondering what the hell is going on around here.

Damn.............

good for Marco though. I hope he does well with them.

Edit: I seriously don't know why they didn't sign him with the season he had. this **** ruined my day now

Just seeing the Marco contract I'm heated at this crap and to find out we offer nate the same contract as last year man that's a slap to that man face after what he did for us. You telling me FO couldn't respect him enough to offer 2 million wow

I'm torn on this.

Dun is a better spot up shooter. A la korver a few years back.

Marco had the ability to take it off the dribble which we haven't seen from a 2 guard since...well, you know.

Lol.

Not defending the front office, I'm as mad as the rest of you are the fact it seems like we can never land another star, but y'all wanna say we have the worst front office in the league which is far from true.

And once again, when was our bench ever weak? Y'all wanna keep Marco and Nate, but keep telling me about how bad the bench was. Which one is it? Dunleavy isn't a slouch, we got good value for a guy offered the full MLE by some teams and especially after seeing what Korver and Redick got. Dunleavy is on the same level if not better than Marco.

they're not the worst FO, but it's upsetting to see the choices they're making with the players that got us so far last year, basically spitting on everything they did. this would easily stop if they tried to get another big name, but they're not, and to top it off they seem to be driving off one of the best coaches in the league, and best coach we had since Phil Jackson.

2014 is going to be more of the same...man I'm glad I stopped going to games last year. Not that it matters. We will sell out, but it is my way of casting my vote.

Yea you pretty much do defend the FO on every post i seen. What sense do you even make the bench was weak but clearly the two bright spots were nate and marco so why wouldn't we want to build upon that and keep them. The cavs were trash last season does that mean Kyrie wasnt any good. Hey FO lets pay the 32 year old shooter what we could have payed the 27 year old who can shoot and actually put the ball on the floor, the same 27 year old that carried us at times and hit a few game winners OK. Dont know what basketball you watching

I will take Dunleavy 's shooting if Butler can grow as a player off the dribble.
