Chris Andersen under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children

Him being emotional to Karl after shootaround tells me everything I need to know. If he was innocent and had nothing to do with this he would be confident and act like nothing's wrong, especially with someone that he's known for years in private. Like someone in here said he was probably trying to lure some underage girl over a period of time. Not only do you have to be sick to do that, but does anybody ever actually get away with it without Chris Hansen popping up for a meet and greet? I mean really, you gotta be pretty messed up in the head to think that meeting some little girl offline is going to go smooth.

I would think it'd be the opposite.  Me personally, everytime I was in the wrong and was tryin to hide it I acted non chalant and acted like nothing happened.  When I was innocent was when I was emotional showing feelings not knowing what to do to clear my name type of thing.

If it was me, and I was accused of doing some heinous (sp?) things when I knew I was in the clear...I'd call a presser immediately to get %@$# off my chest. That's just the type of person I am. If I know I'm 100% innocent, I'm not going to let folks sully my name. Lawyers and Nuggets PR team be damned, I'm talking to someone to get my side of the story out there.

Let's be real though DoubleJs, he's not 100% innocent. He may not be guilty, but when a place is raided, they usually have solid evidence. Coming out and "getting it off your chest" may just complicate things. He needs his lawyer at every step right now. As it stands, nobody knows the details yet....what does Chris come out and say? "I didn't do anything wrong. Whatever you think I may have done, I didn't do it."

Somebody asked a good question in here and that was are crimes against children always sexual crimes?

No doubt...which is why I said if I knew I was 100% innocent of the things I was being accused of, I would have had a presser.  And you're right.  No one knows the details...but it doesn't look good because of the silence.  Which is why most people tend to believe that he's done something wrong here (obviously).

I'm guessing crimes against children can be physical/emotional abuse...as well as sexual (tho, that can fall under physical).  Just my .02 *shrugs*  I don't think they have to always be of the sexual nature.  Maybe someone in law enforcement can chime in.

I looked up Crimes Against Children (hope I'm not going to be investigated now

) and it basically says it's for child pornography, sex trafficking minors and looks like they might do some work with child abductions as well. Since it has to do with a computer it definitely has something to do with child pornography or him trying to talk to some underage girl on a chat room. The dude always looked crazy, but I didn't think he actually literally was crazy.

Does anyone else think it would be crazy if a celebrity got caught in "to catch a predator". Highest rated show ever

"this guy calls himself Chris. Says he plays basketball"

These law enforcement agencies don't raid these houses off 'hunches'....

Let's see how bad this gets.

Innocent until proven guilty...

Plus I don't think he's even been charged with anything yet.

Nuggets center Chris "Birdman" Andersen may be extortion victim

The Denver Postdenverpost.com

Douglas County investigators on Thursday went to Andersen's home in Larkspur and seized property. Andersen, 33, has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

In the statement, Colin Bresee, an attorney for Andersen, suggested that a woman from California has tried to get items of value from Andersen. The statement reads:

"A female fan in 2010 mailed Mr. Andersen multiple letters and included several photos in which she was scantily clad. Chris and this woman communicated with each other and in 2011, this woman, who represented herself as 21 years of age, flew to Colorado, showing her required identification. After leaving Colorado, she became upset at his lack of interest. In 2012, she threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration. "

According to the statement, someone purporting to be the woman's mother wrote in an email that " 'i (sic) want him to pay for everything on her Amazon wish list, 5K for her bedding stuff and her victoria secret wish list."

"Professional athletes are routinely targeted by these types of individuals," the statement said. "The media has been speculating that he's a suspect and not a victim in a criminal investigation. Mr. Andersen has been fully cooperative with the authorities. The investigation is expected to take three weeks. We're confident it will show that Chris did not engage in any criminal conduct."

Thursday afternoon, the Nuggets said Andersen had been "excused indefinitely" from team activities while Douglas County sheriff's detectives investigate.

Andersen has been under investigation since February, when a California law enforcement agency tipped off Douglas County.
