Computer P.S.A. (helpful programs, apps, and tips)

Quick question. The image on my computer screen becomes distorted sometimes, but not on a consistant basis. Anyone know how to fix this?

Check the wiring/cable that goes between your monitor and computer to make sure you don't have any loose connections. Be sure that on each side of the connectors for your cable do not have any bent or missing pins. It also wouldn't hurt to check if you've got the latest video AND monitor drivers installed on your computer.

Hey thanks for the advice, I checked the connections and reinstalled my drivers which seems to have done the trick for now.

Read the fine print in your contract with your broadband provider. There's no such thing as "unlimited" bandwidth. If there was, we'd all be downloading porn in seconds. :smile: In all seriousness, "speed" is a factor of A.) Your Internet connection, B.) Your router speeds (if applicable), and C.) How fast your computer is.

I wish I had an answer for that, but most likely you've got some software installed that's preventing it from shutting down properly. I'd also check for malware/spyware. And just so you know, holding down the power button on your computer for 4-5 seconds will automatically turn it off, but I do not suggest doing this often, as it could damage your computer.

soo i tried to use both my speakers on itunes and was messin with some of the sound settings...turns out i did something and now no sound comes out...and i dont have the advance sound program on my computer so can someone please help a brotha out

can somebody tell me what the aim virus is like cuz i think i got it and can you tell me how to get rid of it
 
im having problem with my background it does not show up it just shows a gray wallpaper covering it up also the my time is set to army time in a small white box and covers up my regular clock, i put in windows blinds to make my comp look better can that be causing the problem and what can i do to fix it

i uninstalled window blinds but the wallpaper changed from gray to blue the clock now works fine just the background doesnt work, and when i go to desktop properties the list doesnt move and doesnt let me browse for more backgrounds or put new ones

i got a problem with my laptop, i just got it about a week ago everything was goin good, i only had a few programs installed aim, firfox, winamp, macafee ect.
then i installed themexp and stylesxp. and it was fine untill yesterday i started it up and i have no toolbar and i cant run any of my programs, and it wont even let me do a system restore..
any tips?

^ That used to happen to me. I forget what I did in particular, but I know I repaired the Winsock. I went to the Command Prompt and typed "**** fix winsock".

I forget what I put where the stars are. Google will probably have some answers.
 
^ Boot into safe mode (hold F8 while booting), and see if you can uninstall the program. Then boot into normal mode and see if that fixed it.
 
when i try to download adobe flash player 9. whatever it keeps telling me that its already downloaded but i dont have the software. can someone help me out?
 
^ What web browser are you using? Just so that you know, some web browsers (Firefox, Opera, Safari) have a lil difficulty with Flash Player 9 and certain web sites.

Is there anyway to get a program that was deleted recently becasuse all of my images is doing something weird because of the program i deleted. i dont even remember the name of the program

rumble, i use firefox but i also tried internet explorer and still no luck. I know for a fact i dont have the player already in my computer. When i go to the download page nothing pops up for a download, all i get is it has been succesfully downloaded. Im not sure what to do here lol
 
why does my comp takes so long to turn off, after i click everything the screen turns off then like 2 or 3min later then the power turns off?
