I can dig it. I think Gyllenhaal is highly overlooked and his film choices in the past 10 years have been solid.Jake Gyllenhaal Eyed to Replace Tom Hardy in David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’
Jake Gyllenhaal may not have received an Oscar nomination for “Nightcrawler” on Thursday but he could still end the day with a win, as David Ayer is courting his “End of Watch” star to replace Tom Hardy as Rick Flag in “Suicide Squad,” an individual familiar with the comic book project has told TheWrap.
Warner Bros. had no comment, while a representative for Gyllenhaal didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Hardy was forced to exit the project because Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “The Revenant” is going over schedule into mid-March, after which Hardy will be needed to promote WB’s “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Report: Tom Hardy Left DC's "Suicide Squad" Movie Over Script & Screentime
Announced to much fanfare with a full cast in place this December, Warner Bros. DC Entertainment adaptation "Suicide Squad" has had some small growing pains. Now a report is claiming that the loss of one star came as a result of the final script for the film not meeting his expectations.
Latino Review has a story up today claiming that the reason actor Tom Hardy walked from the incoming David Ayer-directed movie was because he had not seen a finished script when he originally agreed to play Rick Flag. Once the full cast was assembled – including new Joker/Oscar-winner Jared Leto and superstar Will Smith as Deadshot – the script was tweaked to play to those bigger parts and Hardy apparently wasn't interested in their version of the story where Flag served as a supporting player.
Immediately after Hardy quit the part this week, reports surfaced that Jake Gyllenhaal is being eyed to fill the Rick Flag role in the DC supervillain team-up movie. If he does, he'll join Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Cara Delevigne as Enchantress. Additionally, "Batman v Superman's" Lex Luthor Jesse Eisenberg is still rumored to be connected to "Suicide Squad" in some form while Warners is reportedly also chasing Viola Davis for the part of Amanda Waller.
"Suicide Squad" is scheduled for release on Aug. 5, 2016.
