i get that but that is also why their budget is $15b in comaprison to $1.5b for hbo but hbo is also paying for friends and big bang theory and rick & morty and south park which all expires (which they paid an insane amount for each), eventually and then the bidding war begins again

not everything hbo has are their own stuff like disney with fox acquisition

I think a large factor in this situation is that globally HBO although known for high quality content is not available in much of the world as a cable channel by itself. Much of their content is shown on platforms they have deals with such as Sky and Netflix in the UK and I imagine similar deals across the globe.

And with these deals it isn't hard to think that funding could be obtained from AT&T/Warner partners internationally minimising any further investment in a project they have already lost money on. The international partners purchase exclusive broadcast rights where HBO max is yet to launch. In the UK The Last Dance documentary was shown on Netflix whereas I believe in the US it was ESPN.

I definitely will be interested how far into his original vision for this film he'll be able to go with the footage he had filmed. It was rumoured that he filmed both parts back to back at one point.

The international stuff is weird

some of the streaming sites aren’t even available outside of the US, like Hulu and Disney

but like Netflix can show the office in the US, but can’t outside of the US

also with movies the licensing for the movies or for songs is dependent on regions and platforms

fleabag is the weirdest one, I can’t watch on amazon ‘while abroad’.. but once I switch to the VPN, can watch

Yeah, I think they just haven't announced they're cancelling it.

The shows there have either gone to HBO Max or CW claimed them (Stargirl & Swamp Thing). Stargirl already aired last night.

Only other thing I can think of is if they retool it for other/new content and sort of do a deal for ppl already signed up like how ppl already subscribed to Hulu got deals for Disney+

It's not like Whedon weasled himself into DC and took over the DC movies. He was asked by Warner Bros. cuz they didn't trust Snyder's ****** track record. Plus I'm pretty sure Snyder approved of Whedon finishing the flick.

This continues to be a trend with toxic fandom though. Rian makes a trash TLJ and gets bashed, JJ tries to make sense of that trash with more trash and gets roasted to no end, etc.

With that said Whedon is gonna need to bounce back movie wise. Doesnt even need to be a comic movie. Coming off AoU and then helping to produce that version of JL.
