Its a good movie. Pretty clever in some parts. Trite and forced in others.. particularly the ending sequence. But all-in-all.. a movie that needed to be made and seen.

They were, but one was purposefully corny. The other wasnt. He thought Menace was being called corny. Don't be a Menace was.I think both were brilliant

This movie is a 6/10 at best. As a person who went to a "prestigious" private university I suppose this movie is supposed to reflect the experiences I had..but that wasn't the case. I found myself cringing in embarrassment more than anything.
I would still recommend you all see it and come to your own conclusions but I personally felt let down especially after seeing the first trailer that came out last year.

Saw it last night. I enjoyed it. An older black couple left halfway through the flim. I knida knew they weren't ready for it.

finally got around to watching the film. it was really good. more significant tho, it hit close to home. really related to that movie (lionel minus gay) and it did an excellent job at humorously commenting on contemporary society.

Watched the movie for the first time on Netflix yesterday and I was thoroughly impressed. The film was filled with many prevalent black themes and issues facing our community. The Samantha White character was the most intriguing. I know so many girls who are mixed who have these extreme identity issues but deep down are afraid of there place in society. The prestigious black kid who just wants to smoke weed and tell jokes, the black girl who doesn't want to accept her blackness or her name because she grew up around whites....and Tyler James Williams role actually surprised me. Expecting him to be the misunderstood black kid not the misunderstood gay black kid. Great acting range. I want to show this film to everyone....

Forgot to come back after watching. I enjoyed it as well. I do everything I can, but having mixed daughters I pray that they're not facing a crisis as teens/young adults. They know their blackness very well, but that's only one side of them. I know it's ultimately up to them to be who they feel they are inside and I don't try to make them choose sides, but I do try to prepare them for the judgment that comes with being black.

Just watched on Amazon Prime (Apparently it's moved from Netflix to AP)
Thought it was dope as hell. The thought provoking, clever film I was hoping for.
It did get a little too cute for its own good at times, nut overall it was dope. I'm usually not one to watch movies multiple times, but this one I want to rewatch.

I thought this was pretty good. The type of movie that if in the wrong hands (ie, Spike Lee) could have easily been ruined for me.
The homosexual angle seemed out of place at times (not nearly as much as that ridiculous afro wig), and "Chris" looked too young compared to everyone else.
The biggest shock to me is that the "2 Chainz is in it" reaction isn't a popular gif.
I'm pretty sure the black guy who was trying to get with Samantha did all of the implied hacking (election, etc.). Samantha was linked because she was stupid enough to use her student id# for everything.
