I've never attended a game where we lost before :(

Last time I saw okc in person was in 09 when we played them in the first round

this time around Durant made everything look soo easy. Game was so smooth

I remember playing them during one of our championship years and destroyed them like nothing.

Sad how the tables have turned in such a short period of time :{

I always thought that Game 3 is where the Thunder balls and became elite.

I honestly wonder what their practices look like.do they ever run any defensive drills?? Cause they suck so much and they make so many mistakes on D. Likethey never practice any defensive schemes or know how to play a man to man or a zone defense

Nash is great but he was  HUGE mistake.  ITs because of him that the ****** Jim Buss brought Mike Dantoni here. He thought we were the old suns team + dwight and kobe.  We have only 2 players on our roster that caters to Mike's system (Meeks and Nash) and thats it.

We need a complete change in offensive and defensive strategy.  But having Nash almost baits you into playing fast and outside-in game which is what screwed us from get go.

He wasn't a mistake.. But the mistake was not solidifying the backup spot.

But then again we had only $3.5mil to spend. We just got an All Star PG. And we had $4mil committed to a backup. Then a month laterwith the Dwight trade we had another $3.5mil committed to the PG spot. Then Morris $1mil.

They should have re-signed Sessions, but then you're talking about $23mil in salary at PG. $23mil in luxury tax.

Signing Blake to 4 years was the biggest mistake they made. Not signing Blake, but giving him 4 years.

And by the way show Jim some kind of respect. He went out and got Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. 2 all star's in the previous season, 2 Hall of Famers. For virtually nothing, when we were expecting only a small trade and a weak signing at best.

Any good will Jim made by giving Mitch who's the real personnel move guy the go ahead for getting Nash and Howard has been nullified by his ego trip and his handling of Phil's departure, (mass exodus of everything with an inkling of connections sans Jeanie) and hiring of these last two one dimensional coaches Mike Brown and Mike Dantoni, and jerking around of a HOF coach who brought so much stability and winning to his father's franchise.

I won't get on Nash for anything except that he's not being aggressive enough and for the most part not being Steve Nash, might as well have him in the triangle cause he's not even doing Nash like things out there in _'Antoni's system partly because the personnel doesn't match, but Nash isn't doing his stuff either.

Am I the only person who finds the Jim Buss witch hunt hilarious?

It's pretty much like let's through all logic/reasoning out the window and come up with these random conspiracies how this one guy is running the Laker franchise into the ground.

The rest of this month is basically our only hope for playoffs.

We have 9 Games before the 7 game road trip at the beginning of February.

of those 9 game 5 are winnable (Cavs, Utah, Toronto, Milwaukee, NOLA)

We need to win 2 of the 4 Tough games to be .500 before that road trip (Miami, OKC, Bulls, Memphis)

We haven't won all year... :x

Nope.

All I want from an owner is to give the team the best chance of winning by doing the following:
  1. Employing smart/qualified people to help make basketball decisions
  2. Be willing to spend money instead of running franchise like a business
  3. Be a fan of the team and it's fan base
  4. Not afraid to admit mistakes, and correct them when necessary
Seems like he's proven to have either done most of the things on that list already, or a willingness to do them in the future. As far as this season goes, I'd blame the struggles on the health issues of the Lakers star players more than anything.

With all this madness thats going on in Laker land there are a few things that we all must accept

1. No matter what. _'Antoni is here to stay
2. We are Old & Slow
3. Are best player (Kobe) is are worst defender (If he isnt guarding his man 1on1, he is downright atrocious, on 2K his defensive awareness would be at 10)
4. There is clearly something wrong in our FO
5. Are future franchise player (D12) is clearly not the same, who knows if he will ever be again
6. INJURIES
These points are painfully clear. What should be of the biggest concern to us all is the FO. No matter what our team was on the floor
we could always depend on our FO to make the best decisions for the now and the future.

Now I still give our FO an A+...I mean come on guys we just landed D12 & Nash in one summer along with a player who avg 19 ppg last year (Jamison)
along with shedding salary & useless players (Luke Walton). I actually praise Jim & Mitch for this.

But there is no way you can sell me that collectively Jim, MItch, & Dr. Buss thought that _'Antoni was the better fit for the roster than PJax...no way, no how.

This team isnt suppose to be built on speed, methodical pace and half court O & D is what we should hang our hat on. Not giving yourself the maximum amount of shots in a game.
Young fast teams like OKC, Miami, etc. should be forced to slow down, play halfcourt, and lower the possessions. Make them play the whole shot clock and force them to
make they're own mistakes. We are too slow & old to play the transition game.

If there is one change that could be made once D12 & Pau come back is make Pau the starting C and D12 the starting PF...put Pau in the post and make D12 the roaming PF
it suits they're skill sets and natural abilities better

From the outside looking in, I thought it was pretty clear that Phil wanted to go out with that last ring and only came back during that last run for all the wrong reasons. I can totally understand why management would have reservations about bringing him back after the way things ended...

As far as the Lakers being a run and gun team, that's not true. When I watch I see a team playing at a faster tempo: walking it up and just taking quicker shots than before.

but honestly, them even making the playoffs at this point would be a waste of time.

say they finally get it together and take that 8th spot. well the clippers would eat them alive.

maybe they'd be lucky enough to overtake the 7th spot...Thunder would wipe the floor with them.

who know, maybe just maybe, they get the chance to hit 6th...The spurs team ball would pound them into the ground.

So the only place where they would even have a slight chance is if they hit 5th place..and face the grizzlies. but numbers wise, everybody from 6-10 has to completely **** themselves for us to even have a chance at that.

I'm a die hard laker fan. I'll never abandon ship, i look at these guys like fam, but I wont lie to myself and say we have much of a chance when the writing is on the wall. Man this feels like 05 alll over again..that was a rough year for me :(

the lakers hired one of the dallas cheerleader as one of their main scouts

the only reason that did not affect them much is because she is probably there to bang Jerry Buss and not make decisions and the Lakers never have first round picks

At this point, we have gotta make a decision to bring in some defensive players... All O and no D is killing us.

Mbah a Moute and Larry Sanders would be good targets. Getting a PG that can defend a pick and roll would be nice too. Raps still interested in Pau? Lowry would be nice. (been trying to get dude for AWHILE now :lol )

Shumpert available? Chris Singleton? Liggins?

nah

the thing is, IF they do make the playoffs, that means they actually did turn things around. That's the only way we make it

meaning we would be playing great ball going into the playoffs

I think this squad playing at a level like that would be the nightmare match up for the top seeds

With Jordan Hill out for the season.. It will be a quiet trade deadline for us. Because we can't afford to lose Pau Gasol. Only way we do is if Kings give us Tyreke and include Chuck Hayes or Atlanta trades Josh Smith... Neither is likely.

The only move I think we could make are smaller deals in which we help other teams make trades, and get a role player in return. That's about it.

Then from what I can tell about the offseason...
-Lakers will probably try to unload Pau for a few role players.
-Then use the mini-MLE on a PF.
-Then they'll hope Blake, Duhon can bring them back something.
- They'll have space for 1 max player in 2014, and 1 in 2015.

Makes no difference if we don't get a PF back... We're too thin at PF/C to trade Pau this season.

THIS.

Took the words from my mouth. It's disappointing how we regressed so much from last year. :{

The lakers can not afford to lose Gasol? Even a dude like Kenyon Martin would be more helpful than that no defense 2-11 shooting hot garbage. He plays like Robert Sacre. Now if they wanna keep him and deal his expiring then that is a different matter.

I wonder why Brown and Pringles never played Clark before. Do they play horrible in practice or something? I think it just shows their inflexibility as coaches.

Yea son is trippin with the we can't afford to lose Gasol comment this isnt 2009 he's finished if you think other wise your just not being real

laker fan here , i kind of like this.

ive always appreciated the building of the castle as opposed to living in it as a fan (lmao wierd)

had to happen sometime , we definitely need to keep dwight to not scare off any free agents from signing here

should deal gasol for young talent as soon as possible and just move forward with that when kobe retires.

whats our draft situation like? we have a first from the cavs a believe?

Well when Hill is out.. Howard not 100%.. Trading Gasol, unless you get a solid PF in return is stupid. If Hill was still here, I would agree with you. But that's not the case.

Rechecks the two who commented, :lol

Knight, I've yet to see one comment from you, all year that was remotely cosignable about basketball outside of praising a good play.

If they do make the playoffs they're not putting any fear in any of the top seeds. This team can't guard anybody and that's not gonna change. At least this year it's not.

The NBA thread is funny. Even when the Lakers suck they're still the most talked about team. The hate is strong.:lol
