I just checked them out...  according to the chart..if I want to end up with a 32....go with a 30?

$$!# is so confusing...

what about shrinkage?

Yeah I know the chart says that but I'm a 32 and went with 31 and it fit amazing. 30 was uncomfortable even though it'll stretch.

When washed the jeans go back to normal size. They don't shrink, but you shouldn't wash them for at least 6 months if you want fades, whiskers, etc to start showing.

Any APC NS Online retailers that have black and Indigo?????

Stay true with the average joes.  I would actually try them on first.  In my experience, they are a little bit more fitted then the Levis (501); especially in the tights.  It you are a 38 in 514s, they should fit you perfectly.

About one week in on my Unbranded Denim and I'm loving them

.. For those that don't know, Unbranded is Naked & Famous denim with no branding distributed through Urban Outfitters.

perfect, 514s fit me great.

on another note...

ive noticed a lot of raw denim come in a size 34 in length. I am a sz 30 on length typically. Is there a recommended hem as far as how many inches to take off if any?

It's going to even out and shrink in length once you wash/soak them.  If after the wash/soak they are still too long, get them done by a tailer/shop that does good chain stitching.  But whatever you do, do not get them hemmed prior to a wash/soaking.  You will be pissed when you finally do wash them and see that your jeans are now high waters

.
If you plan on wearing your denim hard, have a good chain stitching is a must.

I went for Weirdguys and sized down 1 and still had a good amount of room to spare.  Go to your local Barneys CO-OP or even some Nordstroms to try on a pair.

As I stated previously, they will shrink.  Most sanforized denim will shrink about 1-1.5 in inseam, while some unsanforized denim can shrink as much as 3 inches.  Example: I just started on some Iron Hearts, and pre-soaking they where measured at 36 inch inseam.  After soaking them, they are barely 33 inces now.   Trust me, you don't want to go that route.  Wash/soak first and then if needed; get them hemmed.

Also, this may seem trivial, but do you know the proper way to wash soak your denim? I ask, because that will play a big role in how your finished product turns out.

This will sound weird, but you will get a better result by soaking the jeans (unsanforized) while wearing them and allowing them to partial dry out while they are still on.  This will semi-mold them to you and alleviate any issues you have getting them back on.
