I live in a small town and have a bunch of jeans I need tailored, specifically I have some Nudie slim jims I've only worn once that I need tailored all around(legs too wide from thigh down, waist a bit big) I'm just wondering if this is something that can be done easily by any tailor, or if it's a difficult task. I've been hesitant to bring them in because like I said it's a small town, and I just don't want them to get ruined.

Roy's Jeans & The Cone Mills Video - Straight & Narrow Fits

A couple of months ago at the end of January we took a trip to Greensboro (North Carolina) with Roy Slaper to experience the production process of a new denim that was designed from the ground up by Roy himself. We took Kellen Dengler, our videographer from NYC, with us to shoot the process, we felt it wasn't fair to keep it under wraps. At the oldest denim mill in the world, this is the story of Roy's new fabric.

This video was shot in 1080p High Definition, it's best viewed in full-screen HD mode with the volume turned way up.

Roy is back with his first denim jean release since 2011. This long overdue set of jeans is made up of a custom fabric from Cone Mills made exactly to Roy's specs. This is the first time in over three decades that Cone has produced an unsanforized fabric for anybody, and therefore we feel that this is history in the making.

The denim is a loomstate unsanforized indigo denim that clocks in at 14.5oz per square yard in it's raw state. The denim is made of American cotton and is 100% pure indigo dyed in the darkest shade Cone produces.

Technically, the construction of the denim.. the warp has multiple sized (engineered) slub yarns and the weft has large rough spun (non-engineered) yarn. It weighs 14.5 in loomstate and approximately 16.25oz after a hot water soak. Roy broke three of his key machines on this run and had to improve them to deal with the heavier denim.

The fabric hand is smooth and tight. Roy had Cone pack as many picks per inch (46 in 6.4 gauge yarn) as could be done without the loom blowing out and therefore achieved the tight weave he was after. There is a sound to the denim, after its been worn a few weeks - when you rustle it, that's somewhere between suede and oil cloth. This is tough fabric.

The look is streaky and it appears grey-!%% at first. After rinsing and a few weeks of wear, it starts to change character as the white hairs formed by the fill yarns wear off leaving the streakiness to mellow and the shade to become a more rich, classic indigo.

The jeans themselves come in two fits, both a slim and a straight leg. Both silhouettes are slightly modified from past iterations of Roy's straight and slim fits.

Never content with just "doing another run", Roy has improved and tweaked everything surrounding the production of these jeans. The stitching of the body is even finer and more accurate and we love the fully lined back pockets and coin pocket. The rear pocket hems now have a hand-done welt in them (slightly thicker than the last run), mimicking the vintage style belt-loops found on many of the best Japanese brands. Last but not least the back pockets have been slightly reduced in size from past versions.

Jeans from Roy don't come often and we can't keep them in stock as long as we'd like, so if you've been waiting for a pair, now is the time.

These jeans go on sale at all three Self Edge stores on Saturday March 24th at noon (local time). They'll also be available in our online store starting 9am (PDT) the same day. Check the product pages in our online store for more photos, measurements, and far far more specifications than you can possibly need for a pair of jeans.

Okay so I really need some new jeans now and didn't want to buy Levis anymore.
Just a few things that I'm looking for. I like slim straight leg, kinda like levi 514 or tapered like levi 521. Also I don't want any type of stitching on the pockets and I want a dark color wash. My budget is anything <200. I was thinking about APC but just wanted to get some more recommendations.

Any help would be great, thanks

Stopped by a vans store this weekend, bought a pair of their jeans. Good god, the best 50$ ive spent on jeans in my entire life. I've been wearing only these ever since i bought 'em. Might head back and get one more.

hey guys- after finally realizing that my jeans are wearing out way too fast (due to the fact that they're not actually that high of quality despite the price) i want to try some new brands...even though they've worn out so fast, i do like the fit of joe's jeans (std fit)...what are better options out there that have a similar fit to these?

kiyab,

How would you compare the Self Edge x Dry Bones x Superfuture x Styleforum to the IHBeatle Buster Indigo Jeans IHXB01. I have a pair of Beatle Busters at sz 38 (oversized from 36) but i would like something slightly more slimmer and tapered. Would you recommend the SEXDBXSXS12 at size 36? I'm concerned that the SEXDBXSXS12 may be too much of a slim skinny jean all around (judging by fit pics).

Thanks in advance.

bought my first pair of selvedge denim. went with the 3sixteen slim tapers in a 34. Debating on whether I should get them hemmed. I'm 6'0 and there's still quite some stacking going on.

Looking into my first pair of raw denim. A few questions first though. I'm looking for a skinny fit, but not super skater skinny.
To give you an example 501's are way too baggy for me, and 510/511's are too tight. Been looking at N&F and I'm not sure whether to go with the slim guys or skinny guys as I think the skinny guys may be too tight for my liking. Also had my eye on some unbranded's as a starter pair. I'm looking to spend around $80-140. Any recommendations?

^Try Unbranded taper fit or Levi's 513.

Those should work out for u.

Edit: The Levi's 513 aren't raw denim, but they will definitely fit the way u want them to.

If they are unsanforized give them a hot soak in a tub or bucket with the hottest tap water for about 45 minutes to get the starch and most of the shrinkage out... Then determine if they need itIf they are sanforized most of the shrinkage is already out but some people still hot soak it just in case.. Personally i wouldnt

So copped my first pair of N&F's. I'm pretty tall but I still have some stacking, do I hem them or what?

Well I've been down all afternoon.

I haven't actually had any jeans in about 2 years and they were cheap Old Navy ones that weren't good. This week I decided to sphash out and spent about $120 on some Timberland jeans (expensive in the uk) but I got the long length because they fit better - but are about 3" too long.

I took them to my local guy who does a fine job hemming regular pants but about 30 mins later I began to think it was a bad idea so went back to get them - but he'd already cut them.

2 things I suppose - I haven't washed them so hope the length will be okay but the main thing is that he said that he could make them look like they are now by reusing the original hem. Does that actually look any good?

I've always wondered why they can't just hem jeans like they are out of the factory. I found a guy locally who is a denim specialist who has an overlocker which looks a nice job. I guess it might be an expensive lesson and I'll do it right next time. I guess they might turn out okay but now I have to wait until Monday to find out.

Whatsup guys. I have a question on nudie jeans sizing and fits. In American eagle jeans I'm 28/28 28/29 or a 29/29(idk how I'm able to fit in all these sizes but w/e) in original straight. It' seems that nudies dosent carry dosent have anything under 30 length so I don't know if there is a differce in nudies sizing compared to ae. Also the fit for original straight would be average joe correct? I don't want to get the wrong size and them being to long or too tight. Please help

Got some APCs that have stretched a bunch and never washed, what are the negatives for throwing them in the washer and dryer.  Wouldn't mind if they shrunk some and don't have a tub or something for soaking.  Thanks!

they will lose there color and the dye will get all mixed up.... so pretty much bad fades

finally after losing some weight ive picked up pair of new denim.

got some 514s, i know, nothing crazy but
laugh.gif

i like they way they fit through the thigh, not too tight, but not too loose

but they were long
sick.gif

they said they were 32 length, i went to the tailor and he measured a 34
eek.gif

so i cut them down to a 30, had the leg slimmed down because they were super wide, almost boot cut
laugh.gif
got the opening down to 16'

they would shrink, and lose a good deal of the initial indigo (not a bad thing, you will see your creases and fades better)

average joe is straight fit, all length sizes are universal, just have it hemmed if it's too long

if the timberland jeans are dry, expect the length to shrink
i'm sure your guy won't steer you wrong though, just see how it turns out and keep us updated; hopefully everything works out
