DISNEY Classics Live-Action Remakes - Upcoming: Snow White, Mufasa, Lilo&Stitch, Moana...

Aladdin adaptation is currently shelved due to some problems with Robin Williams estate.

Why is it interesting? If you think about it, it'll be easier to do movies w/ the cast being human so there's less CGI, I wonder if they'll do a Princess and the Frog live action.

They better add "I'll make a man out of you" to the live action Mulan or I'm fadin dudes......and let's try not to white-wash it Disney....
Because I fear that the movie might be white-washed and that'll lead with outrages everywhere =\

Who are some options to play Mulan?

And whoever plays Mushu, better be funny. Although, Eddie Murphy was the same in Shrek lol

Jamie Chung comes to mind, but I think she already plays Mulan in Once upon a time
The mom from Fresh off the Boat, could be good too

I'm still surprised that jamie chung has somehow become the most active Asian actress. She went from her mugshot being posted on nt and being called william hung to getting roles in movies.

Claudia Kim (Helen Cho from AoU) or Fan Bingbing (Blink from DoFP) or Rinko Kikuchi (Pacific Rim) aren't bad choices.

Has Zhang Ziyi doing much acting these days?

Or how about Knives from the Scott Pilgrim movie?

guy ritchie

All I know is James Earl jones has to be mufasa.

Movie has the potential to be number one all time. Calling it now.
Fans Remind Disney That Putting a White Male Lead in the Live-Action Mulan Would Be a Pretty Bad Idea
Jackson McHenry Follow @mchenryjd October 10, 2016 2:47 p.m.

Because Hollywood has a not-so-great track record with Asian representation, and Mulan is such a treasured exception to the rule, fans of the film are urging Disney not to cast a white male lead in its upcoming live-action remake. This comes after an essay from someone who claims to have had access to the Mulan spec script initially purchased by Disney said that the first draft features a "30-something European trader" who helps defend China after falling for Mulan. Hooray for the age-old white savior narrative that sounds so familiar! Like, extremely familiar. (Also, does Disney not appreciate the greatness of Shang?)

is this the plan to whitewash all their movies?

Mulan is a story of a strong, independent woman who basically defies the patriarchy. Why doesn't Hollywood just focus on that? Don't they love that?

Oh right, she's a minority, specifically an Asian woman. Only white women get the privilege of playing the strong woman.

Edit -- y'all ready for Aladdin to be a homeless white guy?

He can rap all the songs too

Disney Developing Live-Action 'Snow White'

'The Girl on the Train' screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson will pen the script for the project, which will feature new original songs.
Who's the fairest of them all?

Disney is ready to take on another of its classic fairytales with a new musical, live-action version of Snow White.

Erin Cressida Wilson, who penned the adaptation of The Girl on the Train, is in negotiations to write the script for the film, which will expand upon the story and music from the beloved animated classic.

The movie will include new songs, with songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who most recently wrote the lyrics for La La Land, attached to pen the new music.

Marc Platt, who also is working with Disney on Mary Poppins Returns, is attached to produce.

Disney's original Snow White animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937. Based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, Snow White was Disney's first animated feature film and a massive success for the studio. It won an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards and is considered one of, if not the most, successful animated films of all time.

There have been several other adaptations of the classic tale over the years, of course. Two more recent attempts include the 2012 film Mirror Mirror, starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins, and Universal's darker take, Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart. Snow White also is a character on the TV series Once Upon a Time.

Disney has been on a roll with its new takes on its animated classics, including such successes as Maleficent, The Jungle Book and Cinderella. The studio's next live-action fairytale release, which also features another empowered heroine, will be Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson, which is set to open March 17. Disney also is developing a live-action version of Mulan for 2018, and has brought back Jon Favreau to helm a new take on The Lion King. A live-action Aladdin also is in the works, with Guy Ritchie attached to direct.

Along with penning the script for The Girl on the Train, which was based on the Paula Hawkins book, Wilson also wrote the script for Jason Reitman’s Men, Women & Children and produced the HBO series Vinyl. She is repped by CAA, Art/Work Entertainment and Schreck Rose.

Pasek and Paul are an award-winning Broadway songwriting team whose off-Broadway hit Dear Evan Hansen is about to open on Broadway. They recently wrote the lyrics for the film La La Land and are currently in production on the Fox musical film The Greatest Showman on Earth starring Hugh Jackman, for which they wrote all the songs. They are repped by CAA and Schreck Rose.

Nike has to chill with wanting to live action their classic. Beauty and the beast is looking good but I'm highly skeptical on them pulling off lion king...

^^ fam what?!? I had all the Disney classics in storybook form and VHS. I'm super excited to see this film but I have one gripe already

...Emma Watson is miscast as Belle. They should've gotten Minka Kelly or something
