Well, I'd say that a moderator using adjectives describing a posters behavior in light of the topic at hand, can be a bit problematic. It refocuses the issue back upon the poster, and then not the true source of the issue, and in this case it is about the racism on this site. You do not pour gasoline on a fire, then expecting it to go out. I would have never known who Jrepp was, if he did not come on speaking from a position of white privilege in an earlier thread. He is white. Also, since we do know that back channel discussions have been going on about who or what is truly the cause of the race problem on NIkeTalk. Perhaps a moderation style of examining the complaints about unfairness through the vision of the oppressed, may be more of a solution. Example, you don't get to discuss the topic on the greatness of Jordan, without discussing what he wasn't to the people who look like him, simply because you are not comfortable with it. You'll see comments about how great he was, and then how he was a pro simply BECAUSE he didn't speak upon the topic of being Black in america. That frame of thought aligns with that of those who live with privilege, and then is incredibly insulting. I am going to ask if that person is Black. Since this is indeed a message board where discussions are held, that question speaks to authenticity. Many of you chide fake shoes, right? Well, the cost of someone who is not Black making that sort of statement in a public forum filled with impressionable people, is far greater. People run with it, and that is how they weaponize terms against Black people living the Black experience in America.
A respected member on NIketalk says that Jordan didn't have to speak upon the politics of being Black...
Well, I am going to make it as plain as possible, if that respected member isn't living the Black experience in America while being Black?
**#$ what he thinks.
It is because I'll say it exactly like this? Is why these white racists and their sympathizers have a problem with anyone, not just me, but anyone who is as confrontational, then having no fear of such confrontation/debate about such.
Black people do not live simply to make you feel good about yourselves, nor what you have done and what you've allowed to be done.
