Dressing Better Vol 2.0

JCrew is have a sale on their Factory Suits. Navy and Charcol Wool Suits
$178

Keep in mind this is from the lower quality factory line. So it is an import. But at this price, I'm sure its in someone's budget. From what i remember in store, there is not much shoulder padding, slim pants (too slim for my ex linebacker frame) and the material felt good.

Is it possible for me to cop a good suit for $200-$250 range ?
And if anybody knows about a tailor in Orlando that would be clutch too

I know what you mean man, I'm working on a college budget and options are limited, I own this Jcrew suit and I like it, obviously its not top of the line or anything but its not a crappy garment that'll fall apart in a year either:

It's worsted wool, and no polyester blend...I bought the darker charcoal one last yr on sale and it cost 180...took it to the tailor to get it worked on and I think altogether it cost ~230-240 once I was done, so thats in your range....here's me wearing mine to give you an idea:

OP should edit the first post by adding some of the valuable information WJ4 and a few others have posted so far (something that was desperately needed in the last thread) to avoid repetition and getting lost in the thousand+ pages worth of posts.

I must say I'm dissapointed. This was a chance to get the thread started the right way with FAQ, Q&A, a new name, etc by a thread starter. Starting a new volume/thread... Just for the sake of starting it... Meh
Back to the drawing board...
Ksteezy first to post pics, :lol

a Dressing better thread Vol. 2.1 ? lol

Nah, think WJ4 had bigger plans for the thread, but oh well...

Anyway, can anyone recommend solid shorts, non cargos... slim but not skinny. At the knee or slightly above it.

'Preciate it.

*Edit*

Tempted to scoop the jacket just to throw around when I go out at night.

Haha, someone beat me to the punch. I was going to write a pretty in-depth first post because I noticed a set of same questions kept getting asked.

Not sure what your physique is, but if you're skinny/lean, check out Gant Rugger or Barney's house brand. Epaulet's stuff is also great, but they're in NYC and I'm not sure if you want to order via the phone/net without trying a pair on.

If you want mall brands, Banana Republic and J. Crew are both good and both end right above the knee caps. I had both years ago as well.

I don't know why some people always try to get at RFX. He's probably one of the helpful dudes in the thread. I know he personally helped me a lot with tips and coupons.

RFX: just ignore them, bro. You're in your mid 20s and have the financial abilities to spend $20-30k without thinking twice. Ignore the 99%.

Can you still write the post ?

i have two of them and really enjoy the fit. esp for a 40% sale, express is not bad imo. that being said i normally get a 38r (sizes for all of my suits) but for the photographer i wish i got the 38s. only difference i really notice is that it is right at my wrist bone so i wouldn't have to get that shortened otherwise (38r is tad longer). I'm 5'10, 175lbs if that matters

Anyone have any suggestions on what to wear to the casinos in Atlantic City? Plan on going to the casinos and then hit up the clubs afterwards. First time headed to a casino. I would like to look "fly" haha, regular club attire as in dress shirt and pants? How bout a blazer? Any input would help, thanks.

I'll probably get to it sooner or later, but it defeats the whole purpose now because it will just be post somewhere in this thread.

I may just edit the first post I made initially, at least that one is still on page 1. It's going to be a super long read and long write for me, my man. :lol

I wish I had more time to dedicate to this, I'd drive to different places with nice backdrops for the pictures too.

Depending on your crew I would say dark denim and loafers with a crisp white shirt. Its hot, you have plenty of time to wear a blazer in the fall and spring.

i'm 5'9, very slim. i'm not sure if i should get 36R or 36S.

HEADS UP: express is having a midnight sale. there are 3 blazers (retail 200) on sale. after the 40% and a 15% coupon (code:9378), they come out to 101 each. sale ends 8AM EST.

Go with 36R. The difference between the R (regular) and S (small) are the lengths, not the width. I'm the same height as you are and I wear a 37-38R, probably a bit heavier than you too.

Since fit was mention, and I mentioned there was an audience that likes the anti fit.

Some folks size up intentionally on suits for an avant garde aesthetic. Not my style, but really interesting nonetheless:

Do you guys know any good places to buy jean jacket vests for a relatively good price? Saw one at Urban Outfitters but it was like a hundred bucks and I didn't think it was worth all that.

You can still wear jackets in spring/summer. Like a lot of people that live in humid climates, you can opt for unlined jackets and utilize breathable fabrics like linen and seer sucker.

I'd probably do the same though (your recommendation) if I were to go to Las Vegas right now. It's too hot to dress up, need to wait for cooler weather before you can start rocking nice stuff!

wj4, it seems like me starting this thread with no real substance is a problem for everyone |I
if its that much of a problem that it is not in the first post, then send it to me or just post here and i will quote and edit the info on the starting post

My opinions on mid range priced shoes and suiting.

There are reputable brands such as Cole Haan, Calvin Klein, Boss, etc that make really good suits and dress shoes. Many of you guys are either just starting your careers or graduating college. No need to drop $500 plus on a suit and your body hasn't fully matured yet. Plus, I am sure your pockets aren't there yet. (If you got it, ball out broth). But don't hassle yourself with Allen Edmonds, Bespoke suiting etc until you are fully sure how you would like to dress. Most adult men only have 2-3 suits. I work in a business casual office and only wear slacks and dress shirts with the occasional sweater or blazer in the fall/winter months.

I wear Cole Haan shoes. Not only because i was first put on with the Nike Air, but because i walk a lot and need the comfort. (I have no idea what I am going to do when Nike sells Cole Haan at the end of the year) If you beat up shoes like I do you may want to buy shoes for everyday wear and then invest in higher end shoes for your special occasions. Just my 2 cents.

A nice fitting $200 suit, crisp **** and tie, matching shoes and belt will take you far. Now when you get that corner office...I will be mad if you don't upgrade. LOL.

It's not a biggie, dude. I'm not getting paid for this or anything :lol

I just want to throw out the stuff I learned in the last 3 years or so since the last thread was created. I came into that thread knowing nothing and a lot of folks in that thread who know longer post schooled me. I feel like a lot of folks here are where I was, at the end of the undergrad career and wanting/needing to redo the wardrobe.

I appreciate the offer, I'll email you when I'm done. I think I'll work on it as a Word document so I can save it and pick up when time permits. :)
