So i sold an item on ebay about a week or so ago, buyer emails me a few days after he receives the item. He wants to return the item and i reluctantly agreed to give him his money back. I wanted to know if i'm still gonna get charged the final value fees i was charged by ebay when the item sold, how about paypal fees. Ebay and paypal take a !!$! load of money from you once your item is sold and if i don't get the money back from them i'm sol. I've never had to refund anyones money as i don't sell often on ebay so if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it, basically if anyone can tell me how to go about doing this without being charged all these damn fees, thanks.

Go here for info on cancelling an eBay transaction: http://pages.ebay.com/hel...transaction-process.html
Once you open the case requesting to cancel the transaction the buyer has 7 days to reply, if they agree you get a refund on your FInal Value Fees. But if the buyer replies that he did not agree you are out of luck on the Final Value Fees.

If you refunded the payment directly from the original transaction page on your Paypal account then they automatically refund the fee you were charged except for something like $0.39.
Here is the info on the Paypal refund policy: https://www.paypal.com/cg...bizui/SendRefund-outside

Good luck!

Sweet, thanks. I haven't received the item from the buyer yet as he just notified me on Friday so he hasn't shipped it out yet. Won't be sending any money of course until the item is back in my hands. This is such a pain, i already transferred the fees to the checking account linked to my paypal acount. Now i have to resend the money from my checking account back into paypal.

If i don't refund his money directly through paypal and go the first route through ebay how will i send him his money. It seems easier to just refund his money through paypal so i don't have to do anything else but issue a refund, anything i'm missing here. Thanks again.

EDIT: Just realized the second paragraph was regarding the paypal fees and not ebay fees, i mixed them up when i posted my original message, thanks again.

You're welcome!
Just be sure to use the "refund payment" icon on the transaction details page of the original payment. Otherwise you will not be refunded the paypal fees.
