3-Series

Same could be said for the Bimmer too.
exactly, and unlike da base model 528i which is gonna suffer from HEAVY depreciation, da charger SRT8 is gonna hold its value

ALOT better.
Proof?
someone must've not got da memo about srt8 chargers and challengers are some best value held cars in america right now.

I'm confused.. is this guy trying to seriously argue that a 5 series beamer holds value better than a charger or challenger srt8???????? a quick car search for a 2011 srt8 versus a 5 series or even a 2012 5 series versus a srt8 will show that it is honestly a bad comparison.. i dont understand why you would compare a car that's known to not retain value (5 series beamer) versus one of the cars that are BEST at retaining value... i guess dude has never been in the market to actually BUY a srt8 so he just wouldn't know...

^That's way too big of a link for a website I do not know. Print screen that & post it. Regardless, I'll gladly deduce that...

Tell me, SRT8 stans. How do you recoup those insurance rates & increasing fuel expenses? Depreciation aside, you're not looking at a practical vehicle anywhere near the term(s) 'Value', 'Great Buy', etc. What? You're going to hang onto the car for 20-40 more years while paying said insurance rates, fuel costs, etc. on the whim that some old man reminisces about how he always dreamed of having this beaut'? The money you 'invest' to keep it for X amount of time won't come back tenfold if that's what you're implying...

You do realize SRT production has drastically fallen-off, right? This isn't due to creating some form of exclusivity. This is purely a result of very little marketability. At least they're cutting their losses...

Not sure if I should reference the $10-$13K off sticker price for a particular SRT8 just yet...

Personally i think the bmw 5 series is a more PRACTICAL car to buy as a daily driver in comparison to the srt8 because you'll be filling that srt up twice a week MINIMUM if you have any type of commute... it all depends on the person and what they need out of the car.. i honestly don't think you could go wrong with either of the cars.. it all comes down to personal preference..

Nope! No memo. Can you post it?

A 2011 M7 is basically the same car, so that is acceptable IMO.

An example of what I am talking about is if lets say someone bought a 2012 Range Rover. The body is the older generation and different than the 2013. Not doing it if you are buying it strictly to stunt IMO.
I have a 2007 and a 2012, both of which are the L332 body style. IMO,
L332 > L405, by a landslide. I still like the new body, but the L332 is outstanding compared to the L405. I'm still thinking about getting one though because the interior of the L405 is Bentley / Rolls worthy and the handling and overall feel is more agile than the L332. I think it's because they used aluminum for the body on the L405.

But your arguement is invalid. The L332 body actually looks better than the L405. No way around that. I intentionally got the 2012 because I saw what the 2013 body looked like before most people did and I was not a big fan of it.

And don't try to say something like "your only saying that because you can't afford the L405" (I know you will because this is NT) because I could go cash out a fully loaded, supercharged L405 if I wanted to, right now, on a moments notice.

But I'm really not into spending anymore money with Land Rover until they get their sh*t together. Too many problems. Different story.

But back on topic. Buy what you like. Buy what you can afford. Live in your means. Don't buy ANYTHING in life to impress people.

Have a good one NT. this thread is too much for me. Could've been a great thread too... :{

superbee SRT core package =/= regular SRT8

try again though.

and insurance rates are completely different depending on location, da fact that you're using that and fuel prices which also vary

PLUS no one drives their car exactly da same way is type asinine.

you're not gonna win comparing da MASSIVE money depreciation of a base model 5 series compared to a loaded SRT8..you looking

foolish even attempting to wrestle with that logic.

its WELL KNOWN SRT8S hold their value. if SRT8's lost their value da way bimmer's did, everyone and their mother would have one.

people AVOID out of warranty depreciated bimmers they're money pits....once a muscle car get outta warranty, its still reasonable

to service and maintenance.

Ill take the title "wanna be mediator" over pseudo intellectual troll any day...

Its obviousthat Ninja is biased towards the Charger and Sniper is biased toward the 5....

Neither of you seem to get that this is a terrible comparison... 2 totally different markets... People that cop a SRT do it for a raw "old school" driving experience IE tire smoking power and dat sound :smokin ... people in the market for a base 5 are looking for a quiet sophisticated ride with gas mileage to boot 8)

Neither one is right or wrong.... its all about individual needs and choices.

Oh well... the reactions in this thread are priceless... "dih-loo-zhuhn-al" is an understatement

:lol Ricky knew exactly what he was doing when he started this ... Kudos :Nthat

who cares about depreciation though. im trying to enjoy the car not worry about what its gonna be worth when im done with it

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/27/nadaguides-reveals-six-top-auto-picks-based-on-low-depreciation/

This the only article I can find that mentions the actual car I own.

I wanted a used SRT8 but due to the fact that the car doesn't depreciate I couldn't find one in my price range with low miles. So I started looking for a used R/T once again I couldn't find one that represented a significant savings over buying new.

My insurance is 101 a month for full coverage. I had a total loss on my record because I had a car stolen about 2 and a half years before I bought Da Hemi.

oh yeah? look what happened to da economy when you use that logic for other things such as a house.

depreciation is very important when it comes to da durable goods market, because its a way of storing value.

Non M/AMG BMWs and Benzes are the most overrated cars on earth. I drive my parents 2012 5 series and E class when I visit them and run errands for them. if luxury means putting 10000 buttons to clutter up the dash, then yes, they're very luxurious

i dont understand why ppl care about depreciation on cars when ur known to always lose money. if i was buying a car i would have to love it and never part with it so depreciation dontmatta

there's normal depreciation. then there's falling off a cliff....

its comes to value, why are you paying full price for something no one else will give a fraction for it on da second market?

sounds like a ripoff to me.

take it to da kicks, if someone is selling some sneakers for retail, and in da aftermarket they can't even fetch 40% of its original price,

what makes you think anyone is taking that MSRP serious to begin with?

Because some ppl like having things ds. Thats the only reason id buy a new car. No tellin what was goin on with a used car. Some ppl who are comfortable economically dont give 2 chits bout defreciation and just buy a car cuz they like how it loooks. Depreciation is kinsa irrelevant imo

depreciation is da BIGGEST way a car loses value, and "used" can be going right around da block and returning back to da dealer.

FYI no cars ever have zero miles when you get em..no one pays for something they feel doesn't have any value to it. thats with everything.

As for higher end luxury cars, if you can't afford the depreciation, you shouldn't be buying.

As for getting the older model over the new, I love the shape of my 05 evo, and hate the newer ones. I've never had a car this long and don't ever want to get rid of it. Probably still be the last new car I buy for years though, hate taking the depreciation hit on brand new cars.

bruh if it looks good and they think its worth it then they are willing to compromise nothing is wrong with this at all

everyone is saying they buy cars because it simply looks good but you would just say its badge flossing wtf? :lol

To me depreciation is the true worth of a car. How do you know how much you are going to love a car until after you own it for a while.

Whenever a car depreciates rapidly its because people who own them don't want to keep them and are trading them or selling them at a extremely high rate, flooding the market with them.

Look at v6 Chargers they plummet in value. Why? Because people buy them and be like "yeah I shoulda got something else" then they trade them in after a year or two
