entry level luxury cars.... EDIT: I DO NOT want one. just want people's opinion.

I mean at this point its pretty much undeniable that a SRT8 anything holds its value better than a BMW.

I can take the time to post 2012 SRT8s VS 2012 5 if yall want but I don't see the point.

5 series may very well be 83838 times the car a SRT8 anything is but its not even debatable that a SRT8 holds its monetary value better.
Proof of that?

I want actual evidence, not hearsay...

I've personally seen SRT8s sell well below MSRP & I'm sitting on several message boards stating that they were able to purchase their SRT8 (not Super Bee) below sticker along with a $2,500 Rebate. For an in-demand & limited production vehicle, how come these sold horribly? Is there now a sudden change of heart that is currently driving prices up to the heavens? Nope, not today...

Posing this again for the 5th time. What are the savings in a Dodge Charger SRT8? What exactly is the value in purchasing one? Please explain how a typical consumer can handle the fuel expenses, insurance rates, etc. for this 'great buy' | 'high value' vehicle...

Alright find an amortization table for a 46000K car.

At normal interest( 3%) on a new car and a 4 year loan after two years you are going to have more positive equity on the Srt8 while you aren't on the BMW.

Say you want a new car after 2 or 4 years you are going to have to fork over more money when you sell or trade the BMW.

Secondly you are going to have to carry GAP insurance when you buy a BMW which is an additional 1k for a 46000 car

I don't know what insurance you looked at but when I punched in the numbers on geico the insurance for a 5 series was 300 bucks more but that is for me could be different if your under 25.

Frankly the only thing that isn't a better value is gas and if you drive more than 12000k a year the Hemi probably isn't for you.

And finally you can get a discount regardless of make and model on most new cars, I can pull up forums where people said they got deals on BMWs.
Please elaborate this as I cannot accept this as fact. More so a random 'scenario' than actually catering to the typical consumer. You know? Actual facts...

Considering you just stated yet another incorrect fact, I'd suggest cutting your losses (much like Dodge has with the SRT8). A BMW lease has GAP already factored-in. If you actually purchased the car with zero-to-little down to OWN, GAP is a considerable option...

Screen print those Geico numbers & then post a comparable insurance agency with the same details concerning the particular model you're referencing...

So, again, where is this 'value' in an SRT8? You, basically, just stated/confirmed that you'll be relegated to minimal commuting in order to make use of the SRT8. What a value to have your vehicle dictate your means of when & where you can actually travel to!

GREAT BUY APPROVED!

...and about those links in regards to post-production? Can I get those anytime soon?

All I'll say is that moving out at a young age is a valuable learning experience, yea u may struggle in the beginning some longer than others but you'll learn to hustle harder than before and be resourceful etc.  Even today, none of my houses/cars and other material **** I have now are as rewarding to me as moving out at 18 a decade ago and building my own life for myself
This.

I'm sort of in the middle ground. Graduated from college at age 22 and moved back in with the folks working in public accounting for 3 years. Worked my butt off while living at home and saved a ton of money on rent and normal expenses (at least $18k a year living in Cali.)

Moved out at 25. Now 28 and making over $120k (hard work + timing and a little bit of luck.)

Although during those 3 years living at home, I saved quite a bit of money (at least $45k cumulatively) which has been put in a LT savings account to help with the purchase of a home....

Moving out has been incredibly valuable and I believe the value of saving $15k to $20k a year living at home begins to offset against the lack of maturity and growth you get when you live on your own. Living on my own has been a bit of a wake up call. Accountability and responsibility begins to set in. When I was living at home buying shoes was totally fine with me because all my bills were paid for. Nowadays, living on my own, buying a pair of shoes is a big purchasing decision, I have to rationalize the cost/benefit of the purchase before I pull the trigger. Planning for the future has changed too. Making sure I have a steady cash flow reserved for my next big purchase (home) is something I'm conscious about. Also, realizing the power of money......when I was living at home, I spent my money on shoes and material things, now that I'm managing my expenses, any expendible money I have, goes to investment strategies.

If I had to do it again I would have maybe lived at home for 1 year instead of 3, I truly believe I would have matured much faster. Time value of money and compounded interest (the thought of, had I began investing at 22 instead of 26, the difference would be HUGE!!! starts to set in.) Then again, I could have gotten laid off and been in a huge amount of debt had things not been so lucky for me......you never know, either way, I think struggling in your 20's is a huge part of reaching your fullest potential as a man, if you're living "comfortably" in your 20's you're doing it wrong. Take risks, go big, fail a couple of times, those lessons learned will pay dividends in your 30's and 40's when mistakes and their consequences are much more critical.

lol moving out?

Peteweezy

were 80s babies on the verge of 30.

not 18-21, it aint about society bro.

its about growing up.

at our age your money is a diff level than 10 years ago.
Not my money lol but the point I was really saying was what honestly do you learn from moving out that you can't at home besides paying bills? To me growing up is nothing more than paying bills everything else for the most part I was already doing anyway. I just didn't feel "grown" by moving out or anything like that but that could be cause how I was raised. I never felt too "childish" in the first place where I had to grow up and I'm not trying to be funny either just being real. Would have responded earlier didn't see my name mentioned until now.

Lets end this value and depreciation debate right now.

Autotrader.com is the biggest used car website in America.

As of today there are a total of 66 listings for a used 2008 Charger SRT8 under 75000 miles. The average asking price is 24337 dollars

][]]&showcaseOwnerId=624229&captureSearch=true&Log=0]http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/searchresults.xhtml?zip=75024&endYear=2008&keywordPhrases=srt8&Log=0&modelCode1=DODCHAR&keywords=srt8&startYear=2008&makeCode1=DODGE&numRecords=100&maxMileage=75000&searchRadius=0&mmt=[DODGE[DODCHAR[]][]]&showcaseOwnerId=624229&captureSearch=true&Log=0

As of today there are a total of 907 listings for a used 5 series BMW the average asking price is 23948 dollars.

[5_SERIES[]]]&showcaseOwnerId=56666255&captureSearch=true&Log=0]http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/searchresults.xhtml?zip=75024&endYear=2008&Log=0&modelCode1=5_SERIES&startYear=2008&makeCode1=BMW&numRecords=100&maxMileage=75000&searchRadius=0&mmt=[BMW[][5_SERIES[]]]&showcaseOwnerId=56666255&captureSearch=true&Log=0

Keep in mind there tons of 550s that retail for 60K+ in that mix.

So a 5 series BMW cost more at retail and is worth less 5 years later and cost more to maintain.

That is the definition of value.

This chart doesn't measure how close those owners and dealerships are coming to getting the actual value.. not the perceived value. All you're seeing there is likely the KBB value. That isn't real-life as we all well know.
Example. I just recently sold my 2008 C300 4matic luxury.. fully loaded/all options. KBB was 22,5 private party. Actual value(what buyers were willing to pay) was quite a few thousand less than that. Conversely, I also had a 2008 335i, similar mileage, no nav, automatic etc. The 335i when sold, came alot closer to what KBB as well as what autotrader's other vehicles, were being sold at.

Its about your market, and the demand for that particular vehicle. Not just a listing price.

Why this thread hasn't been locked yet is beyond me.

Why do people do this?

Like if you don't like the direction the thread is headed in why post in it or click on it?
Not about that.

I've been reading this entire thread and I've been entertained by it, but let's not kid ourselves: this thread has regressed to personal attacks and re-hashing the same arguments over, and over, and over. No one's opinion has changed, nor will anyone's. At this point everyone is arguing with a brick wall. Just honestly surprised this has lasted for so long.

The feeling of taking ownership of your life, and time cant be discounted. If you're living in a 12 room mansion, where you see your folks once a week..If youre taking care of your sick/infirmed parent.. If you are living in mom and dads house "in name only", as in they are always out of town/traveling etc. That is one thing. but the feeling of responsibility, and freedom of encumbrance, is completely different when living alone vs. living with a parent.

No matter how cool and distant they are..They arent wallflowers, and your life is always affected, by the introduction of new elements. Move out, buy your own groceries, decorate how you want. Then revisit the feeling of being "grown".

There is no comparison.

Thats to you I've done both that's why I feel I can speak about both sides. If I hadn't I wouldn't even speak on it.

Good stuff bro

Besides living with moms, how can u be content living in an old tiny apartment in the hood.  I'm just saying, living in a nice spacious place in a nice area with walk in closets for ur sneakers and clothes beats out a bunch of jordans and nike sneakers and a gold chain and piece.  And this is coming from someone that was born and grew up in the hood

Ill just make this as straight forward as possible.

If you want a 528 it starts at 46k

A srt8 charger starts at 46k

Fast forward 4 years and the charger is worth more if driven the exact same miles.

It cost less to maintain as well

I'm not at home but ill post the insurance quote.

But while I'm doing that how about you provide me proof of dodge ever offering 2500 rebate on a srt8

Thats a great question but only thing I can come up with is everybody doesnt have that drive to do all that stuff you mentioned. Some just are ok having what you deem to be low standard stuff. Maybe some truly do want more but can't get but then you have people that that stuff means jack spit to them. If they have a cool spot to rest at they are good everybody doesn't want to be on cribs, move out the hood, drive the flashiest car, etc and that's ok too.

I feel like, it is a case of being that they have never seen that other side of life, so they feel they aren't missing anything. Its hard to imagine life being better than what you already know, if youre comfortable in that lifestyle.

you talkin like he's gonna move to a relatively new building in NYC tho.

Because whenever Ninja makes a point that Rustles Jimmies people can't handle it and make personal attacks.

Its like his opinion is null and void because he lives with his Moms.

Personally I moved out when I was 18 have never moved back. I'm pretty proud of that fact but I can't knock another man for doing something that isn't hurting anybody.

Also it bothers me when people take shots when they never state how they living.

Finally not to derail this thread even further but when is someone going to call Ninja out for his lifestyle being possible due to a Government program which keeps rent low when he is right wing on other topics 8o
i think people go the route of bringing up personal stuff because he puts it out there.

i mean, if i'm a virgin, how can i tell you how to get girls? i may be able to, but if i'm saying things that you dont agree w/, you're going to discredit it.

same w/ ninja. i think people go that route because he also makes roundabout insults... calling altimas "baby mama" cars... there may be some truth to it, but its not entirely accurate

but then, when someone says he's a "30 year old , you're too old to be leeching of momb dukes and waiting on an apartment" it kind of fits the bill, even if it is off topic. ...

again, there may but some truth to it, but its not entirely accurate.

its followed by him saying "i aint got no worries" and a bunch of :hat s and descriptive way of saying people is slurping him.

it seems like people just confront him b/c the contradictions.

"i'm in debt, but i'll tell you how to spend money"

"i dont have a car, but i'll tell you how to buy one"

"i dont have sex with girls, but i'm going to tell you how to have sex with girls"

i think that's what's rubbing people the wrong way.

Entry level? I'd probably go with a C class or a 3 series..both are comfortable, reliable..and can look much better with a few small customizations..that would probably be your best start.
