yall are killing this thread with the unrelated pix tho

and if i had 500k locked up and about to disappear i wouldn't be googling pix of natalie portman, as a matter of fact i wouldn't have a working computer cause everything within 50 feet of me would have been smashed upon hearing the news

and wait your saying that the 500k was only 40% of your roll??
laugh.gif
either you have successfully lost all emotions regarding money or are still in shock or ducktales ...

anyways here's some updates:

Espn is separating itself from PS ....still up in the air about the WSOP but they canceled a bunch of other programming

April 18, 2011 11:00 a.m. PDT:
CNBC's Darren Rovell tweeted a statement from ESPN: "We are making efforts to remove related advertising & programming pending further review." Also, according to an article from USA Today, the NAPT on ESPN presented by PokerStars.net will not air Monday night as previously planned.
April 18, 2011 2:30 p.m. PDT: PokerNews has confirmed via a source close to the shows that both the PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge and PokerStars.net Big Game have been cancelled.

^ That could be the case that he lost all regard for money. I always thought I could never be a really good poker player because I value money too much. To be a great poker player you have to have an almost laughable disregard for money. It looks like he doesn't care about money because hes desensitized himself to it. 500 lost would make me go crazzzzy. Thats a house. A nice house.

no question - thats why i didnt do the the normal for nt and call ducktales until further evidence is provided
laugh.gif

the only way you can really excel at high stakes is to have a disconnect with the value of money- it's chips, buyins whatever...but its a different story to lose everything in a day with no real means to get it back quickly

It's most likely the disconnect.
My brother is good friends with a poker pro (roomed with him in college for 2 years) and the dude treats 10k like I treat $10.

Yeah, I agree.  I think that will be my ultimate downfall w/ poker, is never being able to disconnect the value of money (emotion wise).

They always say "Big bank takes little bank", does this statement hold true even to poker?  Or can a professional cool there emotions down, regroup and actually come back and win it?  The mentality changes when you become short stack, I know it does with me.

you have to adjust to all situations...most times i feel i do better short stacked-  you just have to learn to play optimally based on your stack size and the stacks around you....

in sit n gos i almost always go down early trying to adjust and figure things out then mount a comeback...

watch this funny match when you get a chance

WPT Season 8 - hu at the final table between Brown vs Busquet...son thought he had it sewed up, had something like a 25 to 1 chiplead and was already celebrating with the beers  - its broken down into 2 parts

How many people seriously give a +$@# about online poker on NT?

33% of this thread is posts from me and I would say that another 17% is pictures of Natalie Portman.

Yeh, ONLY 40% of my roll was on PS and FTP...

I have money on a few Merge sites and obviously I cashed out a few times.

I thought I made my self pretty clear in this thread that I don't look at money the same way most people do, but ok.

I have no emotion when it comes to poker and money, that's probably why I'm extremely emotional when I play video games online,
laugh.gif
.

ESPN won't be pulling the WSOP, either.

Thats the thing with gambling..you don't see it as real money
laugh.gif
..I can win 20k a session in blackjack, but I won't leave if I'm having a good time, then I end up losing it all back because its "chips" not real money.

meh - we've had a more than a few poker threads here...also was figuring Galen would weigh in as im sure he is affect by this majorly

i dont know if the rest of that was toward me but i already said i understood the regard, or disregard, for money you have to have to play at higher levels...but at the same time its not like you had a bad session...EVERYTHING is gone, wiped out over some political battle..nothing to do with your performance or anything...thats a different story- theres plenty of Pros who are going nuts right now...and they had more $ and even more "disconnect"
