We are not in a recession but by definition we are heading that way from anything like the credit crunch, housing market, and people taking all the equity outof houses to buy stuff. This all has to end and looks like the end has just about arrived now.

This is another misconception. The Stock market isn't the end all and be all for the US economy.

You have the Bond market and Derivatives market which are just as , if not, more important for the US economy.

The market is up because there's speculators who are more than content to hedge their bets on both sides of the same issue and making profits off thedownfalls of others. It's not a sign that the economy is doing well. It may overlap or coincide at times, but it's independent. You bet your %$#there's people who are currently taking advantage of the economic tribulations of others.
