Growing up in the south I always viewed ox tails as a soul food staple. Then my mom told me when she was a child all poor people ate them because the meat markets sold them like scraps for cheap. As I got older and diversified my friends and places I learned that oxtails are a staple in a lot of cultures. I wish someone would find all the different culture specific types of them.

Yup. My grandparents were from Shreveport and Texas. They made it I just wasn’t eating it. I was very picky as a kid...still am

Only had black eyed peas in soup. Oxtail a few times but expensive so I never bought it myself.

my reasoning is probably very childish. But they look slimy. I actually don’t like beans at all anyways unless bbq and evening that is iffy...
