My 1st time having poke was in Maui, it ruined it for mainland poke. It doesn’t taste as good as when eating it in Hawaii.

The simplicity and fresh taste is the best.

Ahi, shoyu, some onion and some seaweed with some sesame oil.. over a bed of rice maybe. I make my own at home now.

When I saw poke spots popping up here in CA I was intrigued. Then I saw the messy pile of “toppings” they threw on it and I was like wow das crazy

Each their own but it surprises me it’s taken off the way it has

The place in LA I go for Poke has a build-your-own approach and I keep it simple. But there are a ton of options for "toppings".
