The allure of “free” food is a big part of it. And, in my experience, the waffles at those kind of hotels are better than the other hot food offerings, which are typically overcooked scrambled eggs and overcooked bacon/sausage.
*Related coincidence - I just used my waffle iron on Thursday to make “corn waffles” because I happened to see the recipe for them on the back of a can of creamed corn we had in the pantry. Came out nicely.

Can't beat a fresh hot waffle, especially surrounded by maybe other not so fresh items at a continental breakfast. He had a chance to make it comical and took it negative for some reason.

I stayed at this hotel and it had a pancake machine. They were pretty good tbh.
