FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

This is why it's hard to **** with NT like I used to in the old days. You gotta read every thread to keep up with the story lines. I need a weekly update to catch up. General has become one long, never ending conversation.

Most us only post in like 4 threads.

End of Ramadan so today was our celebratory holiday Eid. Everyone was at my cousins house to feast. Plenty of grub & desserts. Not pictured are my Mac n chz and General Tsao's Chicken pizza pies.

The chick that my sis-in-law orders the gulab jamun cake from has magic in her hands. That cake was so perfectly moist & delicious- 10/10. What a blessed day it was.

I had the Kilauea burger at Islands yesterday evening. It was free because I fulfilled a previous purchase promotion they had that would offer a free burger. My only costs were the extra patty and milkshake.

How does an Angel's Food pan differ from a Devil's Food pan therealest1 therealest1 ?

The cake looks exquisite.

I'm sorry I really don't know the differences between them.

It was my first time baking that kind of cake. I tried it because I got it on clearance at Ralphs and ended up getting that baking pan for a good deal afterwards.

And I'm sorry I forgot to respond to a previous inquiry from you a few months ago about how I was able to slice a cake neatly into pieces. It wasn't me as you assumed because it was a food scraper I used. I recommend you use one of these if you prefer to slice things with ease and accuracy.

Nice to see y'all get your eat on with that serious quantity of food!

Thanks for the tip.
I like straight lines so when I saw your brownies cut so neatly, I paused.

Thanks therealest1 therealest1

that’s a bench knife. You can use them to make pie crust too with the 3-2-1 method.

Thanks for remembering it was brownies I cut because I got senile and forgot what you previously referred to. A food scraper will make things easy to cut. I feel so dumb after all these years for not knowing they existed.

That interesting to know there's another name for it. I just went by food scraper since it's the word I saw when I was doing research for a tool that's conducive for cutting baked desserts. It was also described as that on the package.

Another great thing about it is that it's so helpful with slicing a block of cheese neatly and promptly.

Fairly new spot in dc. Food was delicious. Service was slow and drinks need work. But I’ll Chuck that up to then being new. Ambiance was dope. We sat outside but they have live music inside and next door there’s a pretty fire roof top bar.

Parlour Victoria
Bad lighting but we had crab dip, Nashville fried chicken, lobster roll and Brussels.

I thought we all already knew this for a while.

Feels like that reveal is what led to the trend of a lot of ppl frying fries and chicken in wagyu fat or beef tallow.

I feel like that led to things like 5 Guys highlighting that they fry their fries in peanut oil.

I didn't take one but this is from their photos on Maps...

The icing is amazing. Instead of the usual consistency it is like they whip theirs, it was light and airy.

They also have artisan pop tarts, each week a new flavor

And they have elite-level empanadas. You order them, baked or fired, and they cook them fresh.

Brah, I was in that joint having the time of my ****ing life. Every bite...
