FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Had to drive 25 miles to get the authentic colombian food. Bandeja campensina and chiccharons.

Annual food fair is in town. Went with the family to try a few different food items. This is in Flushing, Queens, NY. Sis-in-law hit up the Lemon Ice King on the way home. It's very well known around these parts. I had the pizza rice ball...it was super wack. No flavor, horrible cheese & sauce.

Chicken kebab roll was awesome. Perfectly tender & juicy chicken Tikka pieces with awesome grill & char flavoring. Portuguese tarts were excellent. Delectable & mildly sweet. Then came the shrimp roti which was ok but the philouri & tamarind chutney from them was pretty bad.

The Caribbean Mac n cheese was slamming. Loved the different texture & flavors compared to American mac which is what I'm used to. The Tibetian Shogo bakhleb thing was great. It had potatoes with yak cheese & onion and Cilantro.

I should add, with Ethiopian food I can do without Injera. Its a waste of calories and Im not a fan of the texture.

I just raw dog all the sauces then cry later when I have heart burn.

Molcajete de Camarones
from Fonda Don Chon in Covina CA
shrimp, queso fresco, nopales (cactus), green onions, avocado, chiles toreados (blistered and pan fried jalapeños), topped with jack cheese in a spicy tomatillo sauce. served bubbling in a volcanic rock.
it was so damn good. came with a side of rice, beans, and handmade tortillas.
one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.

I swear the picture doesn’t do it justice lol.
All the good stuff is drowning in the sauce.

Also, speaking of margaritas…
Strawberry for me.
