Houston got to have all kinds of joints. Its the fattest city I once read.

I hear that there are more traditional Viet/Chinese in that region, lot of fusion spots.

I heart Viet Tex-Mex is a thing and it sounds good as hell.

Huang always says that there aren't enough, "NYC BulletProof Glass Chinese Wing Spots" in the rest of the country. So I get that

I've consistently seen Vietnamese restaurants in h-town selling pho//noodle dishes. I will definitely look into trying that out.

I went to Chinese restaurant on labor day that sold fried wings but they weren't nyc style Chinese food wings as I expected, they were heavly breaded and expensive for the price to offering ratio. 3 wings for 5 dollars!! A Complete finesse imo. Im gonna go back only because the owner had some hospitality. The wings were definitely good but i rather get something else my next go around.

Chinese take out is great if you just in a mood for fried food. The wings, sweet & sour chicken, fried shrimp, fries, dumplings, crab rangoons, scallion pancakes are crack too.

Yea, same here.

My boy moved from DC to Ft. Lauderdale in 98 and the first thing he complained about was not being able to get "5 (whole) wings and fries/fried rice" like he could in DC.

Yeah when I left NY I missed getting a half fried chicken and pork fried rice with a tea for 5 bucks.

Is it bad that I like most of the takeout food better than authentic Chinese places? I’m not into fish and their fried rice is kinda weak at authentic places. I’ll eat their dim sum, porkchops, duck baos, pecan shrimp all day though.

I think it depends on the type of food you want to get. Yeah, fast food places might have better fried rice and things like orange chicken which I'll admit if crack. One thing I hate about fast food fried rice are the peas they put in them, soooo trash.

Obviously there are foods that you can get at "authentic" places that you can't get at fast food places.

NT Chefs, when making your own hotwings, do you prefer if the sauce is baked into the wing or do you prefer to have the sauce drizzled and coated on?
