i can't speak for anyone that would have been in a studio audience (or the laugh track) but Everybody Hates Chris is just a funnier show.

nothing about will smith is funny to me. great actor, but he's just not funny

Martin's storylines weren't as good, but it seemed like their main goal was enterainment through comedy, and it was hilarious. Most of the comedy was for a mature audience too.

Its the same as comparing simpsons with family guy. Simpsons is the goat, but family guy held its own with sheer comedy.
