Going on a carnival cruise - who's been on one?

Carnival Cruises

I went on one this January.

Paid for it almost a year out so we watched the price drop and called them up to get In Cabin Credit for the drops (240 total for 2 of us) Ended up throwing some more in through the year and ended up with like 700 in On Board Spending money.
Food from the Main Dining Room, Lido Deck, and Room Service is covered (tip the Room Service guys and you'll get your stuff a lot faster than the normal 30-1.5 hour wait) I don't think the Paradise has a steakhouse so you won't have the option of paying 30 for a 4 course meal from them, but if you were on a different ship that did offer it, I'd recommend it.

If you drink a lot, consider calling up their Bon Voyage phone line and ordering a few bottles for your room, http://zydecocruiser.net/menus/bv_liquor.htm the prices are more expensive than you'd pay in a liquor store, but you won't have to sneak around getting the stuff on board. This can only be done over the phone though. If you get a chance to get on a ship that's had the Funship 2.0 retrofit, it'll be a bit nicer, they recently did the Conquest with the new upgrades and got an invitation to check it out for a 3 hour tour before she took off, the new bars were nice and the sports bar was completely redone.

Damn just reading all these stories had me feeling like I was on the ship smelling sea water and all.

Def. need to hop on one of these soon.

I haven't been on one since about 2000, but it was WAY better than what I expected...

You'll meet a lot of nice people... It was a bunch of cougars on-board when I last went...

Plus a lot of people to meet from a lot of different places... I met some chicks from Boston and some cool dudes from NY... they taught me how to Harlem Shake  ... Brought what I learned back to Baltimore and became a god at parties... :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

It was amazing. Free food, free gym, free night clubs. You almost don't want to get off the ship when they make their stops.
Just make sure you stay away from the casino. Have fun!

All of this...

Don't worry about seasickness, I don't think its as bad as people make it out to be...

And don't think about stuff like the Titanic or some other disaster, it'll ruin your whole mood...

We did cruise past a Tropical Storm that was off in the distance before... Kinda crazy sight to see... :wow:

Idk how I'd feel about being stuck on the boat for 2-3 days straight... though I do want to try it out at some point

Anybody that's thinking about doing a cruise...do it!! I just went on my 15th last month each one for a week, and have another planned for April that's 12 days. I've never been on the Carnival line however. Just Royal Caribbean and Princess...with Princess being the best out of the 2. I love them though. Easily one of my favorite types of vacations. I love the freedom to just do whatever, without having to worry about eating, or entertainment, or a clean place to stay. It's just different. If you're on the fence...make that jump yo. You won't regret it, just make sure it's on a solid popular cruise line and you're gold.

Ahh Princess has 19 hour buffet. changing the menu every 2 hrs. pretty clutch. and 24 hour room service.

we should have an official cruise thread. ijs

Best thing I've done is go on my first cruise and realize how amazing a time they were. The wife and I just went on the new beast of the seas (Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas) for our honeymoon and it was awesome. Although it did seem to spoil us and now going on another ship might be underwhelming. Some general cruise tips I've learned over the years:

-You can order as many items as you want at dinner (the steak AND the lobster entree, two apps, etc.)
-Go to all the shows they offer, you will not be disappointed for the most part.
-Do not buy excursions through the ship.
-Get a room with a balcony.
-Sneak the liquor in through listerine bottles, etc. and use the free mixers if your on a tight budget.
-Do not roam off outside of the ports in these other countries, they will be waiting.

everyone's advice is pretty on point. agree with Freeze, princess cruises are dope!

self rant: i hit the craps table at the casino onboard every night, even became friends with all the regulars who would play. i made enough money to pay for my trip which was cool. i get seasick from running on the treadmill while looking out the ship's window and miss one of the casino nights. the next day, one of my casino regular friends asks why i wasn't there last night and told me they shut down the craps table because he rolled for 3 straight hours and they ran out of chips!!! guys walked out of there with $20Gs! and the day i got seasick was surf and turf dinner night. :smh:

awww bro that sucks! I usually go hard on the blackjack table. but yea the cruise i took last month, we hit some rough waters for the first day or 2, and i was getting maaad queasy. which was wild, since I've never experienced that before. but they had some meds in the little gift shop and i took those, was smooth sailing after that.

I took an Alaskan cruise a couple years back and we went through an Alaskan storm..incomparable....it was bonkers!!! but i loved it.

Been on a Carnival cruise alot of families during the summer months. Spend extra and get a balcony suite :smokin. Save up for the tips, they really do a great job, at least the one I was at. Plan your day accordingly and island days especially. Hit up the gym to loose those pounds you will be pouring on from the buffets. Take advantage of all the free chit on the ships like shows and what not.

Damn I really really want to go on one now, but Im out of LA. Only one destination, and I don't really want to go there.

We went to Hawaii from La. and Mexico as well. We got to Alaska from Seattle.

That's part of the cost of it for me though. airfare. I leave out of miami and ft. lauderdale the most I think.

Yeah I'm trying to keep the airfare out and use the cash on the boat. But I should just save up for a Caribbean sea trip.

How was Mexico? Is a 3 night cruise to Ensenada, I think it is, even worth it?

nah mine was a week, went to cabo san lucas, mazatlan and puerto vallarta. it was pretty great! weather was awesome and met some incredible people that I'm still friends with to this day and that was in early '08. It was on Princess.

Leaving this weekend on a 8 day through the southern Caribbean on carnival. This will be my second time on carnival, went on Norwegian the first time not bad, but not at as good as carnival.

i wanna go on a cruise but i know i aint gon be able to sneak weed or smoke on the boat. would i be able to get weed cookies or brownies onto the ship?

Last cruise I went on (before I was married, about 5 years ago...) was with Princess Cruises...it was fun, but I was with some family. It's better to go with a big group of friends, but since your married, you're not going to care about partying all too much.

Man this thread just reminded me...when I was on that cruise, there was this BANGING blonde who worked as a waitress in the casino. I think she was from Romania or something  So I would always tip her really well whenever she would bring me a drink, she would flirt off and on with me the entire week on this cruise. So it was one of the last nights and it was getting late, not too many people left in casino, which was about to close for the night and I hear this waitress' manager (ugly looking female) yelling at her, telling her she needs to report ALL of her tips and that she must have pocketed some of it. Now, at this point, I'm REALLY hammered and I look at the manager and say "Your just jealous that shes gorgeous and gets more tips than you"...The manager turns her anger to me and goes off on me telling me to mind my own business, blah blah blah. I get up laughing and get ready to leave. I head out to the deck for a smoke and it wasn't even 5min and this waitress (bruh, she was so fine!) comes outside and apologizes for her boss. I tell her its okay and I didn't mean to get her in trouble even more. She says "No, you were right, that's why she hassles me all the time, she must be jealous or something..." Anyways, she tells me she's off work the next day and I ask if she wants to get a drink or something by the pool tomorrow. :pimp:

There's more to the story :pimp: but I won't waste yall time. This post just brought me back and man did I have fun on that cruise.

Always go on the cruises to nowhere with my family, it's cool if you got someone who your age to tag along with, atleast for me. Comedy show was best to me.
