My neighborhood is about two express subway stops from the city and their are a couple hotels nearby the subway

Look up hotels in sunset park

Unless you looking for the bright lights of the big city

the mariott around grand central is cool and in your price point. before i lived here thats where i stayed when i visited. it's class to all of the midtown stuff.

you can ask for directions, if people have time or now where you're trying to go they'll help. just give cross streets when asking for directions, no one knows addresses.
