I want rims on standard cars just as much as the next guy, but it doesn't make the 2.0 update a bad one. The physics of the car have greatly improved for starters. The handling/response of the car has improved. It's hard to explain what it is, but you get a better feeling of how the car feels on the road, how it reacts when riding the curbs, the grip of cars on the road surface, etc. I'm using a steering wheel, so it might be more noticeable than on a d-pad. Really, how many games will offer a free 1GB update?

^ games that were an overall a disappointment the first go around.

Not saying that it isn't a good game but lets be real, it came up short in many ways. I expected much more from gt.

A lot of people complain about GT5, but I still question these complainers considering what we have seen from the original GT to the Prologue. I would complain too if I was expecting GT5 to be more like Forza, but I already knew what I was gonna get out of the game.

I think they're a victim of their own success.  With how good GT3 and GT4 was, people were having huge (and perhaps for some, unreasonable) expectations.  It's like you said, you expected much more, but this was given the quality of their previous games.  Of course GT5 is by no means, a "bad game", but I can understand some of the more reasonable criticism.  Maybe it was Kaz's perfectionism, or perhaps they were pushing (or unable to) the hardware-limits of the PS3... too bad we'll never know.

I think one thing people complain about a lot is the standards themselves. Some don't want a jillion "PS2" cars in their garage after waiting so long, while also being able to ride on a limited amount of tracks. I have to admit, as big of a "fanboy" as I am for Polyphony, they shorted us on tracks and variation. How is it that earlier versions of GT had spectators in the Special Stage Route tracks, and a longer course, but GT5 features 3 SSR tracks with 0 spectators and 2 of them are incredibly short. Makes no sense.

^ I completely hear you. I loved the variety of tracks in GT3/4... that would be my biggest gripe, I suppose.

I agree with the standard cars too. I would have been willing to take less-polygoned premiums for more, better-standards. I guess that came down to Kaz being the perfectionist that he is... wanting premiums to be ridiculously-detailed.

On a sidenote... Formula GT seasonal... 2-lap Nurburgring... KILLER. It's so hard to pass on the Nordschliefe!

^ Let's just say I'd give up a few hundred Skylines and Miatas and Civics for a few more tracks and events... and premium cars, of course.

Oh definitely. He is almost OCD about that. Here's hoping there's a good amount of DLC tracks coming out.

Need the 1000 car trophy achievement over some useless tracks and events

Yep. I would def take 300 premiums over what we currently have. Better sounds, better servers, better customization and more tracks.

It is true, I am really disappointed with the standard cars. Like, it is almost like I cannot comprehend why they would do such a thing. I absolutely hate driving those and seeing them on the road. And that new simplified cockpit view? Oh Lawd

But when you get into a premium car (Lambo) where the sounds and sense of speed (cockpit view) are on point, Gran Turismo 5 >*. It just is a shame that it isn't consistent across the board.

I understand your frustration. I forget where I read it but PD said it took them a hell of a lot time to create each premium car in the game because they are so detail orientated.
At the same time though there are like 10 premium cars in GT5 where I shake my head and say "Why the hell did PD waste time doing a premium model for this car".
