This. So like the other dude knew that he would be killed by the Wild people? So he like wanted John to kill him instead of them??? Was that the plan or something? Like why did they wild people cut john free and why is he going to meet the tribe leader now? confused i amOriginally Posted by rmK

ohhh...so he sacrificed himself...thank you. All makes sense now. I was wondering what was going on there, thought I must have missed something earlier.
Yea plus they also know that John is the son of Edd Stark, therefore he might be valuable to Mance Rayder. He also proved that he wants to join the wildings by slaying Qhorin. They would killed them both anyway and Qhorin knew this. The wildings are also "free" people, they take pretty much anyone and their heirarchy is almost non existent.Originally Posted by Jking0821

Qhorin: "Mance is going to march on the wall. When he does, one brother inside his army will be worth 1,000 fighting against him."
Jon: "They'll never trust me."
Qhorin: "They might. If you do what needs to be done."
Qhorin was a dead man no matter what. Jon might have been used as a hostage or executed alongside Qhorin as a display for the Wildlings (because he's Ned Stark's son) but Qhorin wanted him to infiltrate their group so he accused Jon of being a traitor then had Jon kill him (a big deal since he's one of the Watch's highest ranking leaders and seriously feared by the Wildlings) to convince them he'd turned. Ygritte seems to be crushing on Jon hard and Rattleshirt despised Qhorin so that's all they needed to see.
