Surround sound and music is like an oxymoron since 99% of music is 2 channel

It's hard to achieve both with just 1000

What's more important

Home theater or music?

This would be

You need a VGA or maybe a DVI to HDMI or even just an HDMI cord.

if you use dvi>hdmi you will only get video and no sound. I also haven't seen laptops with dvi outs, they usually have vga or hdmi.

For my old laptop and TV I had to run a VGA cable and a 3.5mm cord (from PCs headphone jack to back of TV) to get video and sound.  See if your TV has a 'PC In' section of inputs and go from there.
Its probably been posted but www.monoprice.com is the place to go for all your cable and adapter needs.

Need your guys opinion. I know little to nothing when it comes to T.Vs. I'm looking to purchase a 32 inch for my bedroom.

I'm looking at these two, any suggestions or other tvs to look at sub $450?
Samsung - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV Model: LN32C350D1D
http://www.bestbuy.com/si...8170915188&skuId=9773985

Sony - BRAVIA 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV Model: KDL32BX300
http://www.bestbuy.com/si...8168616090&skuId=9761077

I quickly glanced at both of them in a BB today. Although the Samsung seems to have better reviews, the Sony picture seemed a little crisper.

Any help is appreciated.

I work at Best Buy and I would say the Sony out of those two has a better picture. Trust your eyes man. I would also recommend going back to the store if you can and adjusting the picture settings. Switch it from "Vivid" to "Standard" and see which you like better. Also, if you are getting a BB card see if a manager will get you like a 5% discount. The managers are pressed hard to make sure they get enough credit cards

Appreciate the heads up.  I was planning on getting a cc from them to buy this TV to take advantage of the no APR.  How would I go about the 5%?  Do managers typically do this,, is 5% the max they're allowed to go?

Just started to re-build my home theater in my living room. Limited by size, vaulted ceilings and all white walls, I am trying to build the ultimate viewing and audio experience for Blu-Ray via PS3 and Xbox 360 games. I'll keep posting in here with updates and Youtube videos. What else have people been able to accomplish with limited space? I have a setup going but never really finished it off like I wanted to. After months of procrastination, I am ready to finish the project.

Projector: Sanyo PLV Z3000 1920 x 1080 LCD projector

Screen: 120" Elite Screen - upgraded from 106" because it didn't cover the patio blinds which was annoying

Audio: Old Sony 5.1 setup- upgrade coming soon to 7.1

Dark Knight on Blu-Ray on old setup -

World of Warcraft on old setup -

District 9 on old setup -

New screen and rebuild-

^ Pretty nice setup man, that's a good space for it.  Is your projector ceiling mounted or do you set it on a table top? Also, I don't know if it's a possibility for you, but painting the walls will really help your overall effect in that room.  Darker walls and especially the ceiling will help the image to pop much more and not get so much light reflection elsewhere. Flat paint does wonders too, compared to eggshell finish. Thanks for sharing.

Hey fellas,
I'm entering my senior year of college and have never purchased a television, my roommate has always brought one.  I decided I'm going to get one for this school year, as I saved up a good amount of money this summer.  I want the screen size to be around 46' with a 120 Hz screen refresh rate (so obviously 1080p display).  I'll also be purchasing a PS3 to play video games/blu-rays.  Anyway, with a budget of around $2,000 (so after PS3 and accessories only around $1,500) what would give me the best value?  I've been looking at this http://www.bestbuy.com/si...23153;+-+550+Series+/+46"+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9784784.p?skuId=9784784&productCategoryId=abcat0101001&id=1218200421323 Insignia TV which is around $800 with warranty, but then I came across this deal http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat218800050013...the only thing with that is that it's $2,000 before any warrantys and doesn't include a PS3.  Anyway, any feedback guys?  Thanks!

Does anyone have or know where I can find the pictures of that one condo, I think in Europe, that was the perfect mans condo. I remember it having a pioneer elite plasma with the whole surround sound setup.

You guys seen the UN46C9000 yet? 3d LED, paper thin, stainless finish, probably the nicest picture i've ever seen from a tv. And the remote controller is touch screen,

Also, mitsubishi has some incredible LED, and DLP-3D tvs, (60, 73 and 82 inch 3D DLP's) with 16 bit color processors, built in TRUE surround sound. The tv has 16 SPEAKERS that is putting out about 32 watts per channel, if you hook up a sub to it, its better than most 5.1 surround sounds. Plus built in wifi, built in bluetooth capabilities. One of the major app's on the tv is VUDU, which streams movies in 1080p.

btw, if anyone is in the tri-state area and looking for a tv, I work for PC Richard and Son, I can give you a better price than any retailer, and/or credible online source. (we price match and beat prices).

no promo, just tryna hook it up...

i dont care how many speakers it has.  if it's built into the tv you're not going to get the same imaging as your standard surround sound setup.  digital surround = garbage
