Vaxxed, boosted, caught that damn omarion most likely on NYE. Tried to be as safe as I could but you can't win 'em all. Felt symptoms Monday, did a rapid on Monday - negative. Did another rapid on Tuesday, negative. Started to feel more "off" as Tuesday progressed, scored a PCR test slot. Definitely got sicker as the days progressed. Received my results last night, positive as expected. Overall, this sucks. Feels like an intense cold.

Hope you recover quickly. What did you do NYE that put you at increased risk?

Same here. Both rapid test done in clinics negative but home rapid and both pcr came back positive. I don’t know what’s going on so I’m just staying home for 4-5 more days

I hopped over to Vegas real quick to see Bruno Mars. Masked with KN94 the whole time. Just can't control other people, you know? I had good luck going to public events and taking precautions so I figured that I might make it thru that trip without catching it...WRONG  This variant is something else.

The only way to kinda protect yourself out there is to mask + eye protection since you can be maskless in the casinos (the signs for mask required dont mean ish).

FYI- symptoms are your immune system reacting to the foreign material (virus) entering your body, not necessarily that you are sick and infectious (why some people experience side effects from vaccine). PCR tests look for viral fragments, period. Rapid antigen tests look for live active virus in your nasal passages. If it is not present, the test was done incorrectly, or the viral load is too low to detect the test will show negative. Keep in mind that a low viral load may appear as an extremely faint line that might not even go all the way across. I've seen some where most people would look and think it's negative, but there actually is a trace of a line there if you know what to look for. But to me, that would indicate you may not have actually been infectious if the RAT was administered and read correctly. Oh, and as I've said before with Omicron you should swab your throat for more accurate results.

Didnt click on and read the link, however I think this tweeter's point is why the article is making such a suggestion. Herd immunity. 90 days of protection from a new variant and hopefully it dies off in those 90 days?

What has the timeline of symptoms been like for you guys?

I felt like crap on Tuesday but couldn’t find or get a test until yesterday. Two positive rapid antigen tests at home and also did a PCR test and got results back in less than 24 hrs. It generally just feels like a mild cold for me but I’ve heard some people say that the symptoms get worse for them as the days go by.

Had an 11 year old girl come to the ER yesterday with COVID symptoms. While they were waiting for the results to come back she suddenly started hemorrhaging from the nose/mouth and quickly went into cardiac arrest.

She ended up dying. I didn't find out if she was actually positive or if she had underlying conditions, but word traveled fast and the whole hospital was shook.
Good lord 😥
Praying for her family

Sad thing is most of these deaths could have been avoided. Asking people to do simple and painless things to keep each other safe is expecting too much from many Americans though.

Bought a 10 pack of Aura N95 mask from Home Depot today. These are way more comfy than what I'd been wearing. Do feel like I'm Bane when I have one on though.

Got that hot positive for the VID. I thought that I just had the flu, even though I had my shot. It was a mild 75 degrees out and I felt fine, in fact, I was going to go to the gym, but I got cold, cold cold, but I was sweating and sore. Shook it off and stayed at the house. Later that night I had the worst headache I’ve ever experienced and nothing helped, couldn’t sleep. Still freezing but running hot. Start throwing up. By that time since I was already up, decided to take a cold shower. It did nothing. Put my uniform on as if I was going to go to work, my wife looked at me side eyed and ****, I made it to the Starbucks parking lot and just didn’t have the strength to drive any further. Put the car in park and sat there for a good twenty minutes, went back home and slept for about 30 minutes and went and got tested. Dude came in and said “Merry Christmas, you got COVID”. I’m vaccinated and everything so I would’ve hated to
see how bad it would’ve been if I hadn’t been vaxxed. This was yesterday, today I feel fine. Stay safe out there NT fam.

Day 1: not sore throat but it felt like I had to cough. I initially shrugged it off cuz I had drank a lot the night before and thought it was me being dehydrated.
Day 2: coughing, headaches... now I started to panic. I got tested this day.
Day 3: coughing, headaches, body aches, congestion, fatigue
Day 4: woke up feeling less achy, less tired, still congested and cough is subsiding
Day 5 - today: I feel mostly normal aside from that sinusy feeling like I gotta sneeze every now and then and still a slight body ache

I expect to be back to normal by Monday with how its progressed

Seen this on Reddit. Idk if yall discussed this cause I havent been in this topic in a minute. I mean, unless im reading it wrong then…? So if me and person b (has covid) are in a car together, and we both have surgical masks, it would take approx an hour ride together to catch it from him?

That being said so same scenario and its a short 15 min ride, we *should* be ok?

I dont get this chart really.

It’s wild how some of these social media influencers don’t want to “pick a side” on vaccines. Like you have an opinion on EVERYTHING else from people’s relationships, to religion, to what they eat, but a vaccine backed by scientific research is where you draw the line? Clowns bro
Gotta go with the trend that keeps giving them views.

For any NTers who are federal employees, looks like you can now file a workmen’s comp claim for COVID without having to prove you contracted it at work. If you follow the links in the pdf it should explain it all, but the main takeaways are your test should be a PCR and you have to file within 30 days of testing positive.

My PCR is already scheduled even though I tested positive yesterday via a rapid test. Getting continuation of pay AND the leave I used back? I’ll gladly shove more swabs up my nose to make this a paid vacation.

Wearing anything other than a well fitted respirator mask (relatively cheap and widely available) is dumb AF regardless of what the chart might say. It’s been 2 years and we all know better by now.

need to see their methodology, ie what distance are these people, is there normal atmospheric pressure, are they in an enclosed space or outdoors, are they breathing normally or actively trying to spit into each others faces, etc.

but the basic gist N95 > surgical > cloth > nothing. shocked pikachu.

Disagree. Masks are effective. To what degree? Depends on the mask, respirstor probably is the best but its not dumb af to have anything less.

Yeah I dont get it, say in my scenario of two people in a car. I dont think it would take 15 minutes of two maskless people in a car to infect the other person lol.

But also, is sick person coughing? Are they having conversation? Or are they both just sitting and chilling. Graph does need more context.

In the same boat. Felt minor symptoms Tuesday, took a rapid Wed, Thurs and today. All came back negative. PCR results won’t come in till early next week but pretty sure it will be positive. I was exposed the day after New Years.
