An update from my side of the world, some good news to share: https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong...onavirus-hong-kong-reports-no-new-cases-first

Hong Kong reports no new cases of Covid-19 for first time since early March
  • Department of Health decides not to hold daily briefing which had taken place since January
  • Officials have requisitioned Regal Oriental Hotel in Kowloon City forcing guests to go elsewhere
Hong Kong recorded no new coronavirus infections on Monday for the first time in nearly two months, although risks of imported cases remain as a hotel has been turned into a quarantine facility.
Because of the lack of cases, the Department of Health and Hospital Authority have decided not to hold a daily press briefing, through which they have been providing virus-related information at 4.30pm since late January.
A government source told the Post the Regal Oriental Hotel, in Kowloon City, had been turned into a quarantine centre, as health authorities had been trying to determine how to minimise the risk from residents returning to Hong Kong from overseas.
Officials had considered making travellers wait for their test results before sending them home for further isolation.

More details were to be announced by the Department of Health later on Monday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The current situation, the government has enforced a lock down on the entertainment industry (bars, clubs, KTV's, massage parlors, movies, etc.) and has limited restaurants to a maximum of 4 person's per table for the past few weeks. This current restriction is due to be over by this Friday. There is talks that the government will extend the restriction for another two weeks minimum to step up the fight against the spread. Also, there is a ban on any tourists and non-residents from entering country and enforcing a mandatory 14 day quarantine for all residents returning from overseas.

Despite the boredom and cabin fever everyone's been experiencing, I think they should probably proceed with the extension of the entertainment ban. In the end, I think it would only help, knowing that if we lift the ban too early, the entertainment hubs in HK are going to be pure MAYHEM and a wave 3 of infections is inevitable.

As for everyone else, please be safe and take care. We will get through this!

SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted via contact and via the air between ferrets.
Abstract
SARS-CoV-2, a coronavirus that newly emerged in China in late 2019 and spread rapidly worldwide, caused the first witnessed pandemic sparked by a coronavirus. As the pandemic progresses, information about the modes of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 among humans is critical to apply appropriate infection control measures and to slow its spread. Here we show that SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted efficiently via direct contact and via the air (via respiratory droplets and/or aerosols) between ferrets. Intranasal inoculation of donor ferrets resulted in a productive upper respiratory tract infection and long-term shedding, up to 11 to 19 days post-inoculation. SARS-CoV-2 transmitted to four out of four direct contact ferrets between 1 and 3 days after exposure and via the air to three out of four independent indirect recipient ferrets between 3 and 7 days after exposure. The pattern of virus shedding in the direct contact and indirect recipient ferrets was similar to that of the inoculated ferrets and infectious virus was isolated from all positive animals, showing that ferrets were productively infected via either route. This study provides experimental evidence of robust transmission of SARS-CoV-2 via the air, supporting the implementation of community-level social distancing measures currently applied in many countries in the world and informing decisions on infection control measures in healthcare settings.

I don't see an end in sight if South Korea says you can either still "shed" or catch it again.

Not that I disagree with u but if you’re right and this is just something we will be dealing with until a vaccine can be developed, what do you think will happen to society over that time?

It’s pretty clear at least a portion of the US will be open within the next 30 days with the possibility of being closed again in 60 days. Where do we go from there? Just wait it out?
