We always hear about the student loan forgiveness but they don’t address the source of the problem which is colleges and universities are so damn expensive.
I don't think that's the problem. Our society(baby boomers), in the late 80s, early 90's there was a push for college. By the time I graduated high school in 99. Messaging was college or bust/ college equals the American Dream / College equals success. This was probably true for baby boomers, but baby boomers forgot that while in high school, they sat with school administrators and depending on their grades they were either encouraged attend to College, trade school or join military. With the push for college it increased demand. Schools are just reacting to the rise in demand for high education. We always hear about the student loan forgiveness but they don’t address the source of the problem which is colleges and universities are so damn expensive.

What's the pay rate?I would imagine that another factor would be that the US would be a more technology advanced country with fewer manufacturing jobs so we need people to go to college to get a STEM education to take up those jobs. However, numbers show Americans aren't too interested in those majors and we end up getting highly skilled immigrants to take those jobs.
What's the pay rate?
My sister got her Masters at Columbia in something Bio and is in STEM as a contractor. She's loves it but says the pay sucks. The company gets a good rate but the kick her pennies. She said most STEM JOBS are contract positions.
I got an out the Navy in 05 as an Electrician, immediately got a job paying $25 per hour, but found out the company was getting $200per hr.
