Houston Rockets Thread - Preseason vs Spurs (Friday)

I was pretty impressed by Capela's defense on Curry, even though he still made some of those shots. The fact that he could even stay in front of him is very telling.

I didn't realize Capella was mvp of the French league. The way he shot ft's, I thought he was a work in progress and was one of those guys that just recently started playing the game a few years ago. Granted, the level of competition I'm sure is nowhere near what it is in the nba...he played pretty well on both sides of the court. Was able to stay in front of steph unlike any other big man and had one or two nice blocks at the rim as well. All we need to do is get a little more muscle on him.

Just watched the game. The Warriors are a small team. Rockets just need to be aggressive in paint. Put bodies on these fools.

We gave up too many layups by just not getting in good defensive position. Gotta sprint back on D and communicate better on switches. Steal game 2 and we're in a good spot.

Such a frustrating game to watch. How many passes got dropped...how many layups got missed...how many obvious moving screens did the Warriors set

:{

yet the Rockets still had a better than decent chance to win. Gotta give Mchale credit; that's the best gameplan he's put together all year. The Rockets simply can't fall asleep on D as much as they did and we really need Josh to get his head in the game. They are giving him the 3; he's gotta be smart enough to know when to take it and when not to. Dwight wasn't playing that great before the injury so I think him going out didn't hurt that much but he's gotta be able to play for the Rockets to have a chance.

I live in DC and get up at 5am for work, so I cant stay up late. Woke up and immediately check the score and I am optimistic. Watched the game when i first got to work. Rockets can pull this off.

Ive also never saw Harden go in like that in a playoff game. If he hits 4 consecutive shots you gotta keep feeding him :{. Klay is food if they aren't sending that double

On instagram Kprc2 said they would have an update at 6.

They'll have a report at 8:10

Need to end up with this split tonight, regardless if Dwight plays or not. Can't give up a lead, and can't get jumped on either. Guys need to grab those boards and stick to your man on the perimeter. High level defense for 48 minutes is needed. Also can't let their roles players get off so good either.

Ain't even mad. We just saw greatness.

James is young. We're gonna get ours. Patience :hat

It took Hakeem 10 years.

man but look who Hakeem and em had to go up against in those 10 :lol

the got damn Rockets could of won both of these games :{. BOTH games were in the bag and just blew. Im TIGHT

I am actually glad McHale didn't call a timeout when Harden was the one that got that rebound. Swear he was gonna score

Tough to know we had legit chances to take both games. the NBA thread (and the media in general) look real funny right now. They're so enamored with the Warriors that they make it seem like the Rockets are totally outclassed but them, yet these two games are a 4 and a 1 point loss. The West is a tough *** conference, but the Rockets are a #2 seed for a reason. Sucks we couldn't split though. The Rockets fought so hard, but you hate the multiple times during the game where you felt like the refs were taking it out of their hands. If you're gonna lose, lose straight up. I wanna see two teams battling, not two teams battling then one team getting coddled then doing just enough to escape with a win.

As far as the Rockets on the court themselves, pretty easy to mention we should've called a timeout. i didn't mind one not being called cause that would've helped GSW set up there defense. I thought Harden was gonna shoot when it was maybe 7.5 seconds left, and I also thought Jones was the trailer on the play instead of Dwight. A couple FTs sure would've been nice, basically sealing the victory. Gonna regroup strong next game. Basically gonna need the same type of effort and energy, just sooner, and more sustained.

I'm happy Mchale didn't call a timeout. The ball was in Harden's hands in transition. Can't really ask for anymore.

Two losses by a combined 5 points.
Teams get blown out in GS, and we are keeping it that close when we aren't playing our best basketball. :{

Protect home court and reset the series to a best of 3. No reason to hit the panic button just yet.

Yo guys, not trolling here. Just wanted to come in and say something on my mind.

I hate the Rockets (sorry guys it's true :lol ), I hate Dwight, and I hate the bs foul calls Harden gets most nights.

I hate those things all very much.

But regardless of that last goof by Harden that cost them the game, I've come to realize just how great of a basketball player he is during these playoffs.

He single handedly came a few points away from beating the best team in the NBA, twice, on the road.

He has an atrocious bench and 48 year old matador defense playing Jason Terry as his starting PG.

I hate a lot about his game, but I damn sure respect it. He's an amazing basketball player, and I can admit it even through all the hate I have for his team.

He can't even get 2 minutes of rest without his squad falling 18 points behind. He is that entire rockets team. Tonight showed it.

Win or Lose this series you guys have a gem in your hands for years to come. Enjoy it, I would.

A lot easier said than done but they can definitely do it.

If we can stop those easy buckets they have been getting figured out along with a lot of other little things we gonna be in good shape.
