How come Em can _ but Jay can't _?

Why is it that Eminem is praised to death when he raps about raping lifeless object, hacking him moms to shreds and OD'n on prescription pills at theage of 35?

But when Jay raps about huslting and the hood at age 38....even in an introspective and mature fashion .....people scream about him being too old to addressthat subject matter and call for him to retire because he has nothing else to rap about?

Just something that I have noticed.....

Why is that?

Because Em is white so we can kinda see him doing that stuff...still.

Jay is worth damn near a billy...selling drugs isn't even a thought and hasn't been for quite some time.

*For the record, I never complained about either, rap about whatever you want...just do it well.

Because no one really talks about what Em talks about.
It's his own "thing" more or less.

Alot of artists rap about what Jay raps about, so it sounds "boring" and "old"

Just create an official Jay-Z thread already

People are making threads out of trivial comments. Some of these wouldn't even constitute a good post, let alone a whole thread. Normally I wouldn'tcare but these topics are getting in the way every time I visit the music forum

Thats a good point but shouldn't his mesage be maturing as he nears 40?

Why does he get a pass for talking about the same thing for so long?

With all the stuff that goes on in em's life that is made public, its very believable for him to still be in that place mentally. Dude justdoesn't seem right mentally, so those immature subjects seem more like what is actually going on in his head instead of just stuff he came with to rapabout. Like JR Paperstacks said, Jay is worth damn near a billion, so the drug talk seems a little more artifical and forced for lack of a better word(s)coming from Jay.

Top 10 Richest People In Hip Hop Industry

8. Eminem - $110 Million
Even with being MIA for most of 2005, Eminem's net worth in 2006 came in at an estimated $110 Million. Eminem's triple platinum debut album, The SlimShady LP moved over 1.5 million units in its first week. Soon after, The Marshall Mathers LP was released in May 2000, quickly selling two million copies andbecoming the fastest selling rap album of all time. Em's third major album, The Marshall Mathers LP, debuted at #1; selling over 1 million copies within aweek.

Wait so....Em's persona is believable, chainsaw murderer, habitual rapist of his mom, insane deranged psychotic, etc? But Jay's personaof being ahustler and drug kingpin (which he eased off of with age) isn't?

Last time I checked they were both ridiculously rich businessmen nearing their forties.....

They are held up to two different sets of standards. They have different expectations that need to be filled in fans eyes...

Yea but em gets money because of his fanbase. If you posted eminem performing one song at the Staples Center for 5 days in row it sell out. Andyea Jay sells out fast too but he's rich cause he's a hustler He goes into different venues. Em just has music and 1 movie.

And I mean you say he gets a past but he's 35 his last album sucked so last time he spit that stuff and got a pass he was 28 and like dreclark said theyfeed their audience. Dudes in brooklyn hustling now dont want to hear how some dude hustled in the early 80's about how hes still hustling. (unless its astory like AG)

Well when someone raps about raping mom dukes, or killing his baby mom you WANT him to be frontin . . . I mean no one wants to see that happen (too oftenatleast), nor would they support someone who REALLY did some %%*$ like that, its just entertainment . . .

When someone raps about selling drugs, and or subjects related to the underworld its something you don't want to seem forced and or phony, you like peopleto speak from the heart with quote un quote "real life issues", the topic as normal as hip hop has made, is still something that's sensative tothose who have been in and or around that lifestyle . . .

And Em has ONE thing that working for him, even in hip hop THAT is still a game changer in the way %%*$ is viewed . . .

cause thats eminem's nitch

jigga man u ight

but lets remember

marshall mathers lp >>>> blue print
