The Bulls with the Pinstripes and the Lakers with the Sunday whites?

Oh and by the way....How come no other team play the games like the Lakers, like the lighting? I think it look better that way.

Don't the Knicks do that too with the lighting so the focus is on the court?

Used to be a GWF thing for the Lakers, they brought it back last season to give the Staples that GWF feel.

I think Madison Square Garden @ Knicks games dim the lights even lower.

As for the Sunday whites best Laker jerseys. The Lakers just came out and started using those jerseys like 2 or 3 seasons ago.

Yeah, for years we were the only team without white uniforms. That sh*^ was

Now we mix one in on a Sunday, ya know, for revenue purposes.

It's not the same.

well I 'm not sure, I've never been to Staples Center..

ya I think so

It probably looks that way because the Lakers court is so bright (colorwise). I might be wrong though

LA wears the white for holidays as well. It was cool when they just had the gold at home, then purple on the road.

To answer your first question, the answer is pretty simple. Phil coached two of the most popular and most globally marketable teams in NBA history. Withall the championships they won and their star power (i.e. Jordan and Kobe), of course the Lakers and Bulls would be crazy not to try and cash in and add totheir revenue sales. Adding that special jersey is pure $$$. You gotta admit, they both look pretty good too.
"Lights Out" was actually started at Staples last year when Phil suggested that his young players would get too distracted and star struck byall the famous people that would watch the Laker games.

PS - The Lakers should start wearing the black jerseys

The Black Jersey was a Nike Rewind Jersey and the closest you'll ever see a Laker wearing that jersey is an old Slam with a feature on Kobe.

"Lights Out" was actually started at Staples last year when Phil suggested that his young players would get too distracted and star struck by all the famous people that would watch the Laker games.
And also to bring back the feel of the Great Western Forum which also had dimmed lights.

Describing this new look as actually a nostalgic look, the team said that owner Dr. Jerry Buss missed the way the game looked when the Lakers played at their old home, the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood. Having worked games at the Forum for many years, I didn't think anyone really missed the place, other than the exterminator or car jackers that hung out in the outer parking lots at nights.

Buss said that he wanted a "more dramatic look" and actually paid to have temporary lights hung just along the edges of the court, with the light focused almost like spots onto the playing area. The lighting is so focused, that there is nearly a stop falloff on the courtside "Jack Seats".

The Lakers said a survey of fans and players after the first game indicated that dimming lighting over the seating area made "the game the center of the action." Wow ... it seemed for the past several years the "center of action" at NBA games was what celebs were at the game and the advertising plastered all over every open area in the arena.

I remember that Slam issue. I was trying to look for that cover to post up instead of that pic of the jersey, but I couldn't find it. You wouldn'thappen to have it would you?

I remember going to games in theForum and the lights were dimmed and at Staples as well. Staples is a whole lot darker in my opinion. On TV, you would never think that the lights are dimmedat the Forum too unless you're actually there in person.

Damn. You Knicks fans need to get your panties out a bunch. It was a joke. I don't care if they sell out. Look at that picture. I said that because thereis hardly anyone there.

Standing room only...

And some people actually think outspoken, visible owners like Mark Cuban are bad for sports as owners...

Portland invented the Sunday jersey with their Red one a while back. I believe it was the first time a team used a 3rd jersey also.
