I never knew that......

- the word "Testify" originates from the Latin word for testicle. Two men taking an oath of allegiance would hold their balls as a sign of truthfulness. If they broke their oath they would lose their manhood, literally putting their balls on the line.
so, literally, "all I have in this world, is my balls and my word ...and I don't break em for nobody."

if anything filmmakers these days probably obsess over little details too much, all those little details aren't what make movies good (#sidebar: greatest movie EVER made? really???) granted there may be some correlattion between directors that care about the details & directors that make good films but by no means is it a necessity...the key thing is be able to tell an interesting, if not cohesive story & it seems the "problem" with movies today is more that studios have an unwillingness to tell or lack of confidence that consumers will like, new stories and an increasing dependence on "generic" stories that will do well in the global marketplace...it would probably be really hard to make a similar movie today

Studios pay obsess over details too much?

Clearly you've never seen any of the Transformer movies or any movie based of any books.

filmmakers ≠ studios; it may not apply to EVERY movie but from my understanding studios generally knit pick through scripts/storyboards/treatments to a slightly ridiculous level....

Before he was famous, actor Steve Buscemi was a N.Y. Firefighter. The day after the 9/11/01 attack on the World Trade Center in New York, he showed up at his old firehouse (Engine Company No.55), working twelve-hour shifts for a week after the terrorist act, and digging through rubble with his old comrades looking for missing firefighters.

Buscemi 8)

-if you dug a hole to the center of the earth and dropped a book down it would take 42 minutes before it hit the center.

- despite the many references to germany in django unchained (which was set in 1858) germany did not exist until 1871

- in the first ghostbusters, when dana is siting in her couch and the arms come out to grab her, her titty pops out.
